I am an engineer and have been using CAD and FEA simulation analysis to design plastic and metal parts for many years....
Engineering grade FDM materials can be used in under the hood environments depending on application and proximity to exhaust components.
They are not "easy" to print, but you...
3D printing is an option if you can do the modeling and have a printer (or send it out to print).
I have printed many parts for my vehicles.
I would recommend nylon (PA) for under the hood applications.
Nylon has a high heat deflection temperature (HDT) of 255C, compared to ABS 88C.
I prefer...
Thanks for the response!
I had those same strut tower bars on, but took them off for the smog.Yes, I cut the dump tube inside the factory intake. So, other than the waste gate mounting I guess I have all the items for the EVO 3 install (I did purchase the RRE 2G install kit a few years...
BACKSTORY:
I had plans for a build a few years back and then got side tracked. The car had some issues and it turned out to be the ECU had some leaking capacitors.
Replaced the ECM which solved most of the issues and finally got thru smog check last month and I am now enjoying driving the car...
UPDATE: Had the cat installed yesterday and went for a long drive.
Took the smog test this morning and pass with almost no emissions!
Got my tags! Thanks to all who responded to this post!
Called around to the local muffler shops and they want $800-$980 out the door (after looking up the engine family code).
That's way too much......Took the time to visit the CA aftermarket catalytic converter database: https://ssl.arb.ca.gov/AftermarketParts/catalystsI price checked each...
Changed air cleaner, PCV, plugs, O2, and drove about 350 miles on the weekend with 2 bottles of G2P....
Will change the oil, fill up with 89, and do a emissions pretest....If it fails, then I will have to replace the cat....
I did a boost leak test already, no leaks detected.I drove the car about 40 miles on the highway before the smog. The car sat from 2018 to late 2021 and when I fired it up it had some valve noise.Changed the oil to Redline 5w-30 and the noise went away immediately. The O2 sensor was...
Failed California smog test.
A few months ago changes plugs, wires, O2 sensor, air filter, changed oil about 2 weeks ago. Results below with a few gallons of E85:Car had previously had a computer issue (cap fail leak, pcb damage) and was running really rich for a while. I changed computer...
Thanks...I'll check the injector resistance (I have a multi-meter).what is the resistance specification for the stock injectors?I guess I can check the voltage at the connector to validate that it's not a supply voltage issue.I really don't want to spend money on a replacement stock...
