Oh no don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to be a smart ass. I didn't know your 18's are the same as mine. I'm a little retarded forgive me ;) Hm so..bottom line..my rear tires will rub..front should be fine?

what would 205/45/R16 be like. i know what the numbers mean, but i was wondering if anyone has tried the 45's as opposed to 50's or 55's sidewall. thanks

anyone ever run a 205/45/R16??? trying to decide between a few sizes of tires. 205/55/R16, 205/50/R16, and 205/45/R16. i dont want 17 inch rims, but i also dont want a big sidewall---big(er) sidewalls dont corner as well...just getting some opinions and advice
thanks

Each one of those tires are a different diameter. So putting on something other than the 205/55R16 is going to throw your speedo off and cause you to rev higher to get the same real speed.
Why don't you want 17" rims. Then you could put 215/50R17 on without any problems?

Steve

well, im not really a fan of "big" rims, but ive seen 17s that looked sweet. i was gonna put the stock 2g mitsu rims on my car, which ar 16" (the 5 star) and 17s are heavier, and the rotational weight is greater

225/50/16 will keep your rotational mass very close, therefore your speedo will not be off by much if any. You will have better handling though. As far as 17's being heavy, they are, compared to 14's or 15's. Not a huge diiference 16 to 17.

You mean diameter, right? I suspect with the larger section and the about the same diameter the 225/50R16 will have greater rotational mass than a stock sized tire.

From the weight side my 17" rims and tires are a lot lighter than my stock rims and tires.
I'm pretty sure their stronger than the 2G rims people were filing class action suits for bending on.

Steve

Diameter, Mass, same thing right? J/K

Good call though, I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that.

My buddy has 97 TSi AWD. 7.5x17, +40mm offset, 235/45/17, KYB AGX struts with Eibach srpings. Lowered at least 1.5".

Zero rub.

A rim should be no less than 70% of tire's width, and ideally no more than 90% of tire's width.

WTF?

Its time for new tires and i was wanting to get a little wider, and Discount Tire Direct says that a 225/50/16 will fit on the stock wheel, is that true? what are you all running? any help would be great

ive got 225/50/16's on my stock 16's they fit fine and i like the wideness, but they arent very good in the snow, so if your getting tires for the winter i wouldnt get these

they dont stick out to much? I live in Florida so the snow thing should not be a factor

no they don't , i havent had any problems, i would post a pic but i don't have any good ass end pictures
