I picked up this car in spring of 2018. It has been 9.7@152 and over 200mph in the TX mile with a built 2.0L and S475. I purchased it with a busted transmission (stripped 4th gear and non-working clutch). The car ran great otherwise.

My goal is to keep it in street trim and run high 8's with a 62mm FIS legal turbo (Borg warner S363SXE). The car will go under the knife for the auto swap in fall of 2018. For this season, I am repairing the existing 5spd and having some fun with it on a S363.

I had Kurt @ White Shed Speed (bastarddsm) repair the transmission. That guy really knows his stuff!

In the mean time, I removed the vinyls and had the window tint redone with new ceramic film.

Lastly, I picked up some 15x6.5 TE37's (8.9lbs each). I had them powdercoated and wrapped in 235/60/15 M&H DOT cheater slicks.

It kinda sucks that it's finished. Doesn't seem like there is a lot of work to do?
There is a lot of work to do. The entire drivetrain is stock minus a few things in the trans. The Auto swap will be happening this winter included a good chunk of other things below (hopefully)

-Darren Thomas 2g auto trans w/ PI converter
-Billet t-case
-3.5" driveshaft
-Tubular subframes from Racefab in NZ
-Light weight brakes
-Add nitrous
-Kiggly 12 tooth crank sensor
-Magnus cast IM/RMR TB
-Morrison consolidated T4 divided top mount
-4.5" Garrett core IC w/ custom end tanks
-More injector
-10pt cage to get the chassis certified
-Coilovers
-Shoot for 8s

:)

what was the reason for going with the 2g trans over a 1g?
Simply for the fact that this car from the factory uses a 2g style case (1 mount on engine, 3 on trans). I'm definitely not complaining as I can get an off the shelf precision converter with 8 bolts vs 4.

This build is going to be awesome. Subscribed

well that works then. i was curious as to if it was just for converter options or if the evo chassis mounted the trans like the 2g.

So the Shootout is coming up. I have done some preventative maintenance and had my dude John Whalen tune the car. It feels pretty damn good and I won't be surprised if it traps 150. The plan is to race it in the 9.5 Index or Street eliminator class (I haven't made up my mind yet).

667/502 @34PSI with blown out end tanks (discovered after the fact).

All new 4ply silicone and high torque breezer liner clamps. I prefer these over t-bolt clamps.

Car is now sitting at 44lbs and feeling pretty good after I welded up the IC. I don't have any numbers at this level as we finished it on the street. I am going to upgrade to a 4.5" Garrett core over winter with custom end tanks.

Car and overall plans looked good. What EMS are you running? I noticed you are running the 12-tooth trigger so it isn’t Ecmlink.

Wish an Evo shell like yours was available 2 years ago when I swapped over to another 1GB shell.

Nice one:) I have also started my 2G Auto Evo 2 build, just bought a GT-R so it stopped up a little...
Please update whenever you have time:)
It seems from the log-picture he is running a Link ecu.

Thank you. The car is on a vipec v44. It is still on a factory CAS with no crank sensor period. Thankfully with this ECU we were able to make up for the large timing drift using a light. A Kiggly 12-tooth setup is in the plans.

My last car was a 1GB and it was a still a great platform.

Very cool. I plan to update this often.

It is a Vipec V44 which is basically the same as link (same company I believe too).

Yes it is the same ecus. I also run Link ecu.
Are you running nitrous for stalling the converter?
Which Precision converter?

Regarding using the 2G auto in the Evo 2, you must make your own custom rear mount and right mount. My 2G auto gearbox didnt had the holes in the rear as the 5MT have, only 3 bolts at the top of it. I fabricated my own. Regarding the right mount, it have 3 holes at the top like the 5MT, but they arent at the same place...
I dont know if there are any differences within the 2G W4A33 gearboxes, but mine required custom mounts...
Seems like the 2G have their rear mount very high on the crossmember or something?...
Do you have a picture of the rear of your auto?

I had a feeling that I would be making custom mounts for the front, rear and trans which isn't an issue.

I haven't mocked up the transmission yet but I plan on doing that soon.

Yep, that's it.

That car was pretty interesting to race with the sloppy suspension and its plethora of other small bugs I somewhat expected with an untested car. If you listen to the first in cabin race, you can hear the rear diff explode half way through 4th gear LOL

I made it to the semi finals in the 9.5 index class and was eliminated by a 1g.

Since the Shootout I've removed the entire 5spd drivetrain and I am currently prepping it for the auto.
