I'm like %99 sure my car was broken into by the passenger side window.. before I got it. But I feel as though the previous owner didn't repair it correctly or whoever did cut corners, I don't know. Last night 1/11/18 around 9pm started to rain and continued through most of the night. This morning when I came out to go to work around 9am 1/12/18 I noticed at least 2 puddles on my floor underneath the floormat. It looks like the water is dribbling out of the speaker cover so I've taken apart the door 3 or 4 times now and I have no idea how to address it.. The plastic is torn off so there's no covering inside the door and I've pulled a substantial amount of glass out that was sitting in the bottom. I thought maybe the drains were blocked but chunks of glass but they look nice and clear and I've removed as much as I can to prevent that. My suspicion is that the window was broken and never realigned properly to seal with the door shut, but then again it's also 20 year old weather stripping. Would weather stripping be enough or am I looking at a bent tract/misaligned window?

Pictures of window in question. The driver side doesn't leak and looks much better compared to how it seals.

Bump. Happened again last night.. left the floor mat up so it didn't accumulate as much. I might add that the doors window seems loose, I can wiggle the window in and out with the door open. When you close it like you would the drivers side it sounds like you're going to break something. Can you tighten the window in the tract maybe?

The outer seal on the bottom of the window is what keeps rain from running down into the door and filling the door with water. You might need a new one of those, you could also drill some holes in the underneath part of the door (the part facing the ground) to allow any water that might get in there to drain out rather than spill into your interior.

I can literally see inside of my door when I took it apart last using my gopro and phone and there's nothing blocking the holes that are already there, so I don't think drilling holes would be the right solution unless it's filling up that quick. There is a space between the bottom of the window and the weatherstrip (the picture before the bag of glass) that does get water in it, I've noticed a few rain drops in the past couple of days. Are you referring to whats around the door frame or what is actually attached to the door on the outside of the window?

The second to last picture, although you can barely see it, looks as if the door strike is not properly positioned, so the entire door may not be closing tightly (flush with the rear wuarter panel).

Additionally, the window track mechanisms in DSMs are notoriously janky. There are more than a few threads on here that discuss the method for properly realigning your window track mechanism.

All passengers in our car are advised ahead of time to close the door pushing on the door, not the glass.

I have one bookmarked on aligning windows but have never done it and probably won't have weather suitable enough to do it for possibly a couple days/weeks. Didn't want to waste money on weatherstripping if I could try other solutions first like alignment. Admittedly I may have rocked the car hard enough a few years back that it actually moved the fender back slightly and I had to realign that :banghead:, maybe the door was a little tweaked too but I'd be surprised.. something to check out though. And yeah.. I tell anyone that gets in my car ahead of time to not use the window. Had a friend who did it constantly for days until I yelled at them enough and they finally got the picture LOL It's infuriating. Are the tracts a pain to replace? It doesn't look like much room in the door to work with. Did one on an 02 mustang that wasn't very.. "cooperative".

You need to have someone spray it with a hose while you lay inside with a flashlight and watch where its coming in.

It's not that you'll have to replace the tracks, you align them with adjustment (mounting) screws.

If the window opens and closes easily and quietly, the nylon tack guides are probably okay. If the guides broke, you'll have to replace those, and maybe that will take take of the alignment issue.

Isn’t there shims you can put on the window railing mount or even add washers to press it more outward to seal it better!

It does make some noise about half way down, kinda just squeaks. With the door disassembled I rolled it up and down but saw nothing with my naked eyed and using the camera was not gonna work the way I had it in there. I'l have to wait for warmer weather to try the hose, it' like 20 degrees this weekend. Are the mounting screws a pain to get to on the 2g?

Yea it’s been cold here in Colorado except the last 2-3 days we had some good weather to wrench.. pulling apart my junkyard find now! Seeing if it is any good! 96 4g63 with 110k mi on it , fun fun!
