I took some of the advice i got from archer and others.... beveling carefully, welding in the same direction around the pipe. I also had a bad habbit of pulsing the pedal in some situation. I dialed in the amps and just kept it constant. Its not perfect but im happy overall. Im building a top mount ......just need to get the engine back in the bay.

Calling it quits for awhile until the motors back in the bay... the most challenging thing imo is positioning. Getting comfortable and proping the manifold correctly is a pain in the ass. Really need a weld table.

I think it looks fine to me. You just need to work on tie in's. In those last practice pieces you aren't correctly tying in one weld to the other. You need to have the starts and ends close together to where they look seamless. (Not just for looks but for strength) It's easier to practice this with aluminum since it exaggerates everything and the cathodic cleaning line gives you a good reference point. Also it looks like you are using pulse too?

Don't take what I said the wrong way, it looks good. But it can be better, and we should all work toward perfection, and push each other toward it.
I dont post and expect praise unless its deserved....I think everyone should try to better themselves every single day. I cant get better unless im working at....Learning from people with more experience will only expedite your goals. :thumb:
 
Hmm... It looked like pulse to me because of the grain structure. Since you are doing short runs play around with alternating different post flow rates. I.e. 3 sec post flow on 1" then 10 sec on the next. It's a fun exercise playing around with different times if you're trying to get a certain look.

I cant change postflow.....what I try to do is limit the amount of heat and keep my travel speed up. When i stop i usually sit and hit the pedal again so the argon keeps flowing. Im using a large glass cup and lense. Helps with the color alot.
