Just for the sake of pictures. If your planning on taking it to the track later on then u will need a kill switch. If not, then just connectg all cables to the battery positive.

Unless you plan to keep driving around with stock engine mounts and squishy rubber bushings I don't recommend soldering anything. Solder is not vibration friendly. good crimps and good heat shrink or quality tape are your friends. Don't buy the cheap shitty electrical tape, it wont last.

Can someone link to an example BOM that would be needed to create a setup like that? I know it's a lot to ask but I'd really appreciate it.

edit: nevermind, this thread has it: http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/my-fuse-box-relocation-project-log.298569/page-19#post-152022910

That is the link I posted above haha

Soldering battery connections is the best way to go. I would never have done this relocation with crimping each 0/1 gauge wire to a terminal connector. Each connection used a slug solder plug and the triple wall heat shrink to seal it, I doubt you will have vibrations to mess with that connection.. I run polly motor mounts, solid four point rear diff mounting and no balance shafts with no issues with any of my soldering vibrating apart.

Glad im making progress on harness and battery relocation. Wanna update everyone. Helped brother with old 2g eclipse. Gave it ro him for graduation. So busy for few days. Parts coming for bay and battery relocation. And making every connection with solder slugs.

I agree with the general idea of avoiding solder, mostly because of the godawful abortions we've all seen when just anyone gives it a try.

Solder has it's uses. It eliminates the voids present on compression lugs (common source of corrosion and high resistance faults). It increases the strength of the connection, and decreases the resistance present at that termination. It prevents strands from breaking away. Many factory connections are crimped and soldered. All of my terminations 8awg and up are.

Just out of curiosity, I soldered a few 12awg conductors together properly then forced them to yield. To my surprise even, the wire strands failed every time before the solder joint. It's a reliable interconnection method. If I must tap into a factory connection, I prefer solder.

If you're not familiar with the different types of solder, flux, splice joint types, heat requirements, etc... required to make a reliable connection, it's a great skill to have on hand. You'll use it again for certain down the road. It does require you to buy a handful of things.

But just like the guys up top said: generally, don't do that shit (but I'd like to qualify by adding "without the proper knowledge of how to, and where to"). Don't be too dissuaded if you've the gumption.

Hey tuners. Giving you a update. Got fusebox mocked up today. Went threw suff i had been given for my relocation. Have alot but missing few important thing like breakers, 3 way distribution block. Like those things. The wiring i was given was out of cars with systems. They were junking the cars. Should i use this wire or get something better you think. Opinions needed please.

Found my selection on breaker box and 3 way distribution block. Just looking at connectors for end. Also still debating if i should get all new wiring or use what i was given. Seggestions please thanks

It was in living room in my other house were i built the car. Now its in my back room. I call it my play room.

Ok have got parts in over last few weeks still waiting on more. Should i solder or crimp my connections or both? Hope to get done in a week or so. I placed a order for 25ft of 0/1 gauge wire hope its enough. Got to figue a spot to mount breakers. Keep you updated.
