I was curious if anyone knows of or does this service and how much?

I'm at a cross roads. And think it's best to just take the plunge. While I need to buy tires and rims anyways...

Per John Freund build thread.
To run RPF1 - 18×10.5 +15

"Modified front and rear knuckles for inboard tire clearance (this is how I can run the above wheel/tire combos) , currently still requres 5mm spacer in rear"

Bumping this thread.

My wheels are nowhere near as large or aggressive, but I'm running a much higher offset. I'm trying to get the meatiest tire I can without sticking out past the fenders. So I went with a 17x9 +45 offset RPF1.

So I'm running into the same issue, my tire is rubbing right on the curved part of the knuckle arm. Has anyone done anything custom with these? I don't want to just go at it with a grinder, and I know a spacer is the easiest way, but I don't want the tires sticking out. I'm willing to spend the money to get something fabbed up, I'll be getting in contact with some local fabricators to see if they are interested. But I wanted to see if anyone has come up with anything already.

It would be great to get that about 15mm taken out of that curve, but of course I'm not going to mess with the structural rigidity. Could an experienced fabricator modify the knuckle to maintain strength but give me the clearance I want? Or would they have to fabricate an entirely new knuckle?

Don't mind the old suspension, this is a project car I just picked up, ordered Feal 441's that I'll be installing next week.

I just seen this thread pop up and shocked i missed it,

I modified them front knuckles for John and got 10mm of extra tire clearance bu doing that i had to strengthen the rear if the knuckle to make sure it wont collapse,

I did similer to mine but not as drastic and no support, i got maybe 4-5mm clearance and i did not support the back on mine and its still ok todate.

You have to have a shop modify them but preceisly as John found out! He had RRT do his rears but in the wrong location so they hit still. Its not easy to make a new knuckle so modifying yours is best. It might be a few hundread to do for modifying due to the process and time doing it but it certainly is 1 way to get more clearance.

I have not modified my rears as i use a spacer to give me a wider rear track so i have not touched those on my new knuckles to go on

Thanks for these pictures! I'll be in contact with a local fabricator to get this done on front and rear.

Not a problem, just make sure they are ok to do this and know what they are doing, this is at your own risk of courze when you modify your parts

What material and size plate dI'd you use?

I have a few parts headed to a welder. And would live to send these off to get done also.
I used 5mm plate and the length was slighty longer then what i marked out i was going grind away, took it over the finish mark of the grinding line to help the strength in that area

Nice picture on the wall in the background btw - LOL
Haha, eyes away dude! I actually ask for a car one but he never gives me one! Wife laughs at it though

Bobby, are the knuckles cast iron or cast steel? I've never welded to them before.

Nice work, BTW.
They are cast steel, they weld nice but have to be pre heated.

And thank you, it was the first ones done and i did similer to mine but not as much and no backing plate and its still perfectly fine todate,
