Hey every body im kinda new to the turbo end of the dsm spectrum. I have been reading post on this website for a while now and i had a question, what is the main reason for the saturn alt swap?
just a random topic i was wondering about.

The GM alternator is just superior in many ways. Alot of the Saturn alternators come with more amperage from the factory than the DSM alternators. For those who make big power, its nice to know that you have good consistent voltage to your fuel pump.

I run a Saturn alternator relocated to the rear. I never have a dip in voltage, even with the headlights on or when the fan kicks on.

should also make this clear the swap is more for turbo cars says in your avatar your nt i do not think the swap would be beneficial or if its even done to 2g nt

How much amperage does the Saturn alternator put out? I was thinking about upgrading to the Galant VR-4 alternator which sounds a lot easier to install than the Saturn one.

If relocating the alternator, its the same amount of work anyways. It literally took me 30 minutes to do the whole kit including wiring.

A GVR4 alternator is a good alternative. But what happens when that goes bad? I picked up a reman'd GM alternator that does 130amp that was rebuilt with heavy duty diodes. It has an external fan rather than the junk internal fan like the mitsubishi alternator. It was also 35 dollars brand new.

If keeping the alternator in the front of the engine, it takes less than an hour to do all the mods necessary to make it work.

with the saturn alt do you have to change the fuse in the fuse block from an 80amp to say a 130? and i know this has been answered but what alt do you run broken tsi ill be relocating the alt on my 1g and would rather change to a saturn

I just found a vendor on ebay that sells them. I believe it was for a 91-97 1.9 DOHC saturn. I used the Jay-Racing GM alternator relocation kit. I just searched Saturn Alternator and I compared the application to a list of I found here on dsmtuners.
