Newbie Forum Guidelines - Read Before Posting

BEFORE YOU POST A THREAD IN THE NEWBIE FORUM...

  • Make sure it doesn't fit better in another forum. The Newbie forum is for noob and/or general questions that don't fit in one of the other tech forums. If you're not a New Member, you should be posting your question in a more appropriate forum. Don't post it here thinking it will get an answer quicker. If we find people doing this, the thread will be moved or deleted and the poster warned.

  • Do some basic research before you ask. Check these sections before you ask a question:

    - Common Mistakes and Misconceptions of DSM Newbies
    - DSM FAQs
    - DSM Tech Articles
    - Upgrade Paths
    - VFAQ.com

If you ask a question that's answered in one of the above sections, your thread will be moved to the Newbie Graveyard as a way of letting you know you didn't check the sections we asked you to check. We also ask that you do some keyword searches on the topic using the search feature. Learn how to use the Search Feature effectively.

  • Use a descriptive thread title. Don't title your thread "please help" and expect people to read your thread. Tell people what the thread is about with a good title.

  • Fill in your vehicle profile info. We may need more information about your car to answer your question. Make sure your profile is filled in completely with all your mods.

  • Vague questions = vague diagnosis. Give all the info you can. Here's a good post about vital info for a good diagnosis.

  • Mark your thread as "Solved" when you get it worked out. Go into your thread and click "thread tools" once you get the problem fixed and choose "mark this thread as solved".

  • Be respectful and abide by our site policies, which you've agreed to here.
