the web page takes me back to the early days of web browsing, when there wasn't YouTube or free pics of chicks all around the web which can be cool, sometimes (have to download vids to watch ).
I like going to a well built webpage for buying products, the reputation of FFWD is indisputable but I believe the web page would be a little more up to date/professional by focusing on what they sell/offer only. Leave the vids for the streaming webpage, and if anybody wants pics of chicks just Google it-images.
But at the end of the day it makes no difference when wanting to purchase a product or service from FFWD if need be, they have competitive pricing and offer many things other vendors lack.
IMHO.

That's why I'm having the poll bro. Opinions count and like to be heard. But what really is the meat inside the burger is what we provide for YOU. The rest is the cotton candy at the amusement park.
Yum yum!

I think more important thn the keep or remove of the vids and babes is bringing the site a little more up todate visually. the site isn't very stimulating in the sense of it reminds m of the suff i made when i wrote HTML code in "notepad" and hosted it on my webspace from my ISP (i mean no offense darren, you've been good to me always in the past when i bought and were very helpfull, but the page seems like something put together with a "geocities" click-n-paste setup, and the plain black backing with yellow and red type font needs to go as well.
I don't mean to bag on the site at all as there's great stuff there, i just think it' needs brought into the new millenium with some frames, background imaged, and maybe take the babe of the week and sick vids and have them in the bottom of a left hand column of general types of parts... looking at sites likeimport evolution, STM, MAP and similarsites are what i'm talking about, and i don't mean to copy them as you need to keep the FFWD flavor and stay unique, but you really do need to make the page apealling to new comers who are gonna base quyality of products on the wuality of the website design as well... (kinda like when you see a run down garage with boarded windows you're not expectin ferrari parts inside, and when you see a porsche dealership you're not expecting run down mid 1980's VW trade in's to be on the flootr for sale either..hope that makes sense)
My vote is keep the BOW and sick vid, but make them less of the item of interested and maybe focus on having someparts testing and R&D videos up front if you want som media right out there in the front page, show new developements and such, and i think definitely upgrade the descriptions and such, the cam page hasn't changed from when i bought my DKS grinds years ago.. You've got the goods, that's been proven, you just need a shiny new "lure" to attract the bigger fish that are new to the waters
and again, please only takeit as constructive criticisim, as i don't mean any offense, i just think in todays web based economy you have to keep you flashyness and classyness up to par with the other big dogs, and keep the nice little extras there, just make them a little less focused on, as if to show you're spending moretime on R&D tha looking for hot babe pics t put on the website or browsing youtube for the coolest car video...even vids oif partsmanufacturing in progress would be a lot better for attracting business than women and car racing vids IMO... and once people have bought FFWD producst then they'll know what the goods are about and frequent the site to check on the babes and vids when they have some fdown time

Hey man. I think you missed something. Although I can appreciate your input (as it is always welcomed), the whole purpose of this poll is to better evaluate if we should keep certain elements of the site or not. As it is mentioned at the very top of the post that we have a NEW SITE UNDER DEVELOPMENT.
That is the time to hear what you guys really like on the current site, because if people don't want it, I'm not going to put the time into it any longer. It is actually quite a bit of work bro to keep hunting pics and vids down each and every Monday morning (sometimes for hours)...that fit the "style" of the site and what I think our customers would enjoy. Not to mention, I simply like to share! I wear many hats at this shop, and juggle quite a bit the day to day operations...only have so many hands. Gots to spend the time wisely!
Upgrade some descriptions you say? For example, the DKS line...if nothing has changed in the product (or any of the products I offer), I don't feel it necessary to "fix" something that aint broke. Hundreds of people that have bought them can't be wrong. An interesting note. many have found that my site offers the most content in product description, humor and imagery.
To possess "classiness" and "flashiness" just for the sake of keeping up with the "big dogs" I couldn't care less about. This shop has a very grassroots philosophy and always will. A more "all meat - no bullshit" approach since 1999.
IMHO, the larger you get, something has to "give" in order to achieve that larger "big dog" level...and usually that is in customer service and support of the products you sell. In some cases, the product's quality itself. I'm not going there. No way Jose. I've seen it way too many times as long as I've been in business.
Upfront media of R&D sessions and/or new developments? In a perfect world over here, that would be awesome! I would LOVE to do something like that. But again, I only have so many hands...so much time...I start focusing on things like that, then something has got to "give"...as explained above. And that "give" would be in areas I'm sure you would not like us to give up.
It's about priorities. Videos scouted out and posted that are fun to watch are a hell of a lot easier/quicker to post each week than something that was created by this shop. The way I would post any video with FFWD's name behind it would be a full production sort of gig with great quality, organization, pre and post-pro, and soundtrack. You talk about flash and class we need more of...I say that other shops need a dose of that medicine when it comes to their posted vids. Vids that are down right hideous IMHO. Talk about cheap and living in the 20th Century. I've not seen one yet that has impressed me.
If I can't do it the way I see fit...I don't do it all.
One day, I will get the time to post our own vids of meat and potatoes. I think it would be great to give you guys more in that department! So hang in there!
So the site has chix and sik vids...it's all entertainment and my guys (customers) have seemed to enjoy it for many years! Everyone needs junk food now and then...so there ya go.
So the site looks like it was created with antique tools. It gets the job done doesn't it?
Great analogy of the Ferrari parts inside Uncle Vern's crappy barn! But look at it this way. If that was you peeking into that barn, and saw what it had to offer, you would say "Holy shit! Score!". At that point to you, it doesn't matter what the outside looks like. The bottomline is, you get what you want and you found the diamond in the rough so to speak. Not everyone will be as adventurous as you, but to the ones that are, we welcome them like family!
The Porsche dealership with the V Dub on the floor is my take on a majority of the shops out there. I'm sure most people would agree with that if they have already experienced those shops.
I didn't start this thread/announcement to discuss tips, ideas, and whatnot on what you think the site overall *should* include, what its image should be, and which software should be creating it (although I do welcome feedback). But let's table that for now...for that is a whole other thread in itself.
I'm merely merely asking folks-- should two points of interest within the site "stay" or "go". Let's stay on topic.
Bottomline: This new site will shoot FFWD into the next "millennium" as you term it...and still offer the best service, post-support, and products you guys have ever seen...withOUT compromise.
Cutting edge...not cutting corners.
That's all I have to say about that.
No offense there either Glenn. If you care to talk to me directly in regards to site content, you are welcomed buddy. Just give me call. We'll talk brews and html.

Not gonna lie, sometimes the whole reason I visit the site is to check out the new picture and video. Other times its because someone mentioned a ffwd specific product and I want to check it out, anyways I always end up checking out the new media so please keep it!
So many shops/parts vendors have no flavor or style and you guys are a refreshing exception.

That is simply awesome my friend! I'm so glad we're doing something that benefits you.
This is just part of what keeps me going in this stressful, zany business.
Thanks a bunch for your support!

I for one have been a somewhat regular customer of FFWD over the years. The site is actually what pulled me in from the beginning. Then I found out that the parts and customer service match and flow the same way as the site is set up. Everything is straight forward and to the point with a dash of something extra. Great thing about it, it's the same as it was back then! No need to change a good thing. There is absolutely no reason to change the layout of your site because it's the cool thing to do. Some of those "other" sites should spend more time making products that don't have any snags then spend their time making a "purty" page. Darren has already put the time into perfecting his products and they don't need a fancy site to prove it. /rant
Oh, to answer the question... I am for keeping the BOW and Sick Vids. But if it is busting into your morning brew time I'd say forget it. Any chance you could renew the hula girl? Booyah
