ROBISPEC/KW Variant 3 Coilovers for the 1G
Yes it's true!
After past successes with prototyping for the EvoX, 08+STi, and supra(not to mention Drews KILLER 2g communities. Robispec is very close to a prototype of the KW Variant 3 DOUBLE (independent compression and rebound) adjustable Suspension for the AWD 1G chassis.
Price point would follow the current Mitsubishi series guidelines BUT WILL COME WITH REAR TOPMOUNTS. There will be a ONE TIME initial order of min 20 suspensions. which will be discounted to get KW to manufacture the necessary casings for your chassis.
These are a great ride and FAST at the track, YES you can have it all!
Who is in? We are talking 4-6 months till these are in the "wild".
Robi
I have the prototypes in stock.
Lets get a list for the group buy.
Pricing WITH rear topmount will be 2250.00+ freight
to get on this list we will need 10 confirmed and deposited owners it could take up to 4 months after the tenth deposit.
Please send me your information to info@Robispec.com
I will run two lists Owners (with deposits) and want to own (and eating rammin 2X/day and saving your cash....;-)...)

Robi,
Will this be a one time order or will these be available from now on? Will we be able to pick our own custom spring rates? Thanks for helping us out with getting these cars to handle.

I've looked into these a bit, I'm very interested and hope they happen. KW look to be a great product. They seem to be priced smack dab in between the low end Asian coilovers and stuff like Moton, Penske, Ohlin and high end Koni bits.
I will do what I can to score a set ASAP, 4 to 6 months out gets me right into spring.
Shall we be thinking that front camber plates will not be included?
Can I suggest 12kg front/10kg rear spring rates as standard? I like these rates, belive it or not.
Will we be getting individual dyno charts with each set?
When do you require a firm commitment/deposit?

I would be very interested in this also since I will be looking to swap out my Koni / Eibach combo soon...
I did have a few questions though:
Will the KWs have Castor / Camber Adjustment?
I am also curious about the spring rates and changing out spring at a later date if desired, what are the springs diameter and length?
Will they be interchangeable with other spring brands?
And if the springs are changed out, can the KWs be re-valved if needed?
Just thinking about long term use of the units to justify the upgrade cost.

If they don't come with KW camber/caster adjustment, I would like to suggest seeing if they'll work with RRE camber plates. I really like mine.
Just so everyone understands, these will easily be the best coilovers available for the 1g DSM, hands down. If you want something that will handle well for the street and at the track, these will work great. The only other options out there that come close to this, and are available, are the Muellerized JICs and maybe the Hotbits coilovers. Nothing else even comes close. Outside of that you'd have to look at Konis and Ground Control setups, but that is a big performance gap.
Any updates Robi?

ITS ON.
Robispec versions of the KW dampers come with specific valving and spring rates.
These are not the same as KW's V3 suspension sets.
I have "built in" reserve in the rebound control for up to 3K additional spring rate (with less and less adjustability as you go to a higher spring rate).
The design goal on these suspensions is to be a better than stock ride on the street while performing better than anything but a true track only suspension at the autoX or trackday.
When you look at the price remember these are TRUE double adjustable dampers. NOTHING is in this price range with the quality and performance adjustability NOTHING.
Ask an owner who after 3 years pulled off his clubsports to upgrade to the Robispec "RACE" version on his evo ten...wd40 and a rag and they looked NEW!
this is in the tri-city east coast area...

They will have the KW upper camber bolt adjustability (-1to -3 on an evo).
and will work with the front stock topmount.
I will work with RRE to get their camber/Castor? plates to work with these coilovers.

yes I have a setup for these as well running on Drews SICK 2G
these are at the clubsport level and have upgraded compression valving and springs.
I also have a trick Xmember mod..that helps the front rollcenter.

Yes to KW's camber adjustment
KW used a 60mm spring system. I use 170mm long springs as a good weight vs travel compromise (also have helper springsX4) This size or larger can be installed/retrofitted.
Yes and yes also rebuilt I have all the parts to do this.
the Tuef requirement that ANY aftermarket suspension must be 100K kilometers durable says alot for the strenght and durability of this damper system.

The RRE plates are simply off center, which changes the caster, it's not adjustable caster or anything.

Very cool.
Have the spec'd spring rates been determined yet?

I'm guessing these will be progressive springs? Can we opt for linear springs (those of us who have dedicated track cars)?
