The 1g looks awesome. hope to see it at the shootout. As far as the evo maybe 3rd time will be the charm. Keep up the good work on all the cars.

Oh yeah, it's also the transmission being used by (I may be mistaken here) EVERYONE ELSE that is running a rwd converted Mitsu. When I was trying to stuff a 4g63 into a 1967 Triumph I looked everywhere for conversion parts to match it with a t56. The ONLY plates I could find at all were for a GM and I didn't trust any of the local shops to modify it correctly. So why didn't I go powerglide instead? The $1400 torque converter. Yes, Buschur racing sells it and was the only source I could find, then and now.

The RWD was recently setup for a GForce 5 speed sequential trans and an east-west slipper clutch but we decided to switch back to the auto for ease of operation (no cutting clutch discs, no setting standoff height and air gap every pass, and better driveability when we want to take it out on the street ;-).)
We DID have a 2 speed powerglide in the car originally but the narrow torque curve of a big turbo 4G63 made the 1-2 shift a bit hard. Shift early and it falls out of boost, shift at 11,000rpms and you just might chuck the glide out of the car that was made for a 6,000rpm V8 haha.
We are using a Rossler TH400 3 speed auto and a custom ATI torque converter mated to a custom aluminium driveshaft and strange rear-end. The car WOULD be quicker with 5 speed but the auto was the simple and easy way to get it running in the next few weeks.
The turbo pictured is a GT45R, however we will be using a GT4202 like on our awd. It is also using a 1900 universal AEM box and we'll be running it on methanol with twin weldon pumps, twin rails, and two sets of 1600cc injectors lite off by 4 MSD HVC2 coils.

D'oh! I stand corrected then. Let us all know how the 400 holds up. My brother always had problems getting a consistant shift after a few months of high stall launches. To be fair though, 10 bolts lasted a little over a month and 12 bolts a little over three. That's the problem with being a 'Chevy' guy, you can't run a 9" and still say Ford sucks. I wish he'd held on to that Nova long enough for me talk him into turbo charging that big block with a cracker jack build sheet though...

As scary as it is, i'll be driving
Our plan is to have the 1g rwd running and moving under its own power and the 2g ready to race. We have ALOT of work on both cars in the next week so we'll see how she goes!

No kidding right?
From outside the car it doesnt look that bad (well about as good as doing a frontflip in a car can look I guess lol)
But on the inside view when it lands on the roof you can see how hard it was. ACP talked to Mike the other day and he said he was out of it for a few mins.
There's always next year

while watching the run on tv i was cheering for the evo to win, but then he flipped it and sadness took over my spirit.
Hopefully next year a new driver is found because honestly that dude sucks.
