ARP "L19" Headstud Kit back in stock ready to ship!

Hey Everyone,

The L19 Headstud kit for 6-bolt motors are finally back in stock and ready for immediate shipment. Even with the rising cost of metal, we were able to maintain the same pricing on this shipment. However, prices on the next batch will most likely go up. So make sure you get your hands on these sooner rather than later, as the typical lead time on these studs are 8 weeks!



ARP's L19 material (comparable to A1 Technologies H11 Tool Steel) is a premium steel that is processed to deliver superior strength and fatigue properties. L19 is a very high strength material compared with 8740 (standard ARP headstuds) and is capable of delivering a clamp load at 260,000 psi. It is primarily used in short track and drag racing applications where inertia loads exceed the clamping capability of ARP2000. Like most high strength, quench and temper steels - L19 requires special care during manufacturing to avoid hydrogen embrittlement. This material is easily contaminated and subject to stress corrosion. It must be kept well-oiled and not exposed to moisture.

Because of the many head lifting issues on 4G63 blocks running in excess of 35+ PSI, a stronger stud needed to be manufactured to meet the demands of today's top engine builders and racers alike. Typical lead time on these studs is 6-8 weeks, but we have ordered these in advance and will be shelf stocking them! The L19 head stud upgrade comes with Studs, Washers, and Bolts for a complete installation. No Modification to your cylinder head or block is required as these are a direct drop-in replacement for the OEM head stud!

Yield Strength: 200-230,000 PSI
Tensile Strength: 260,000 PSI

*Note: The nuts and washers included in this kit still utilize premium grade 8740 alloy as only the stud is subjected increased pressure. ARP Moly Assembly Lubricant also included in kit.

Yipes, makes me wish I built my 1G 7-bolt! I have seen shops and group buys where you can just buy the L19 studs alone and save some cash. The actual washers and nuts that come with the kit are just your plain old regular standard ARP headstud nuts and washers. Many of us that are upgrading from the standard ARP's would probably be much more likely to purchase the L19's if you offered us the chance to buy the studs alone without the washers and nuts we already have. Just a thought.


Interestingly enough, for the standard ARP headstuds the price is cheaper for the 6-bolt version, and more expensive for the 7-bolt version. Here it's the opposite. Wonder why?
