I've been researching a TON. I really hope one of the vendor's get's their minds right and creates SPECIFIC piping for AUTO DSM's wishing to go front mount. I'm kind of torn because It seems easier to just stay sleeper and go with a Supra SMIC. A/T guys, let me know... was it worth the trouble? Or do you regret it and would of rather spent the extra money for the easy install and perfect piping structure?

Auto guys great news! I am almost done installing a cxracing fmic kit on my friend's automatic gst spyder and i DID NOT have to hack up or cut any pipes.
All i did was bend the tranny dipstick tube a little and the pipes fit nice and tight with no problems !
My friend is using the cxracing fmic kit, same thing pr is selling, and he paid $200 for it plus shipping.
I will post pics tomorrow for you guys to get an idea how it was done.
Also for the fmic bracket that holds it on top, we went to home depot and paid $12 for a regular flat bar and it worked out great ! Better than paying $50 for just the bracket that holds the intercooler.
I'll keep you guys posted.

He bought the kit NEW for $200? from the CX site? Have any pics of the bar?

I know the PR and CXR is pretty much the same so this would save a lot!

no matter how far you bent the auto/dipstick that pipe is not bent right for the auto trans. It sticks out to far. I deffently want to see pictures as i had 6 people trying to figure it out when i got mine, and all agreed that bov pipe is for MT's.

To be honest you guys really shouldn't be posting about any non PR kits in here. This is a PR fmic thread as displayed in the title so posting about any competing kits and their pricing is a bit off topic.

Keep in mind the fact that there's is a clear difference from the two vendors including customer service, product support and forum support.

Tiago i am running your fmic so no worries man, my friend just decided he wanted his fogs so he got this kit, which is the same thing as the pr kit.

And here are the pics for the doubters as i promised. Nothing rattles either !
It was somewhat a tight fit but it works great.

The coolant overflow was moved out of the way so you guys can see there is nothing hacked or cut up. Everything fits just fine.

If any questions you guys can pm me or the owner of the car i worked on which is my friend angelo, ( angetanodsm ) on tuners.

This is to prove to to the doubters and negative people out there that IT CAN be done and all it takes is a little creativity, patience, and a helping hand.

I wanna see a pic with the bumper cover on and close-up pics of that bracket you guys got from Home Depot. The PR/CX kit's bracket isn't straight like the one you guys are using and I think that's why the core sits at the perfect height so that the fogs can stay in the stock position.

Btw, clean ass Spyder - loving the gold wheels. Hopefully I'll be rolling with you guys once my car is finito.

^ This is why I asked about the bracket... it looks like it has more than one purpose.

So did he buy it new from CXR for 200?

+1 for the clean car, Ive always liked the color.

Im on their site now and all I see is this one for $479.

http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant...Category_Code=

Im somewhat assuming you pieced it together or something??

Thanks ricky. I will take up close pics for you of the home depot bracket tomorrow.
As for the bracket we used it does bring the fmic up a bit but the fogs still fit perectly !
We just have to trim the bumper now and install it tomorrow so i will post back with pics tomorrow.

Jjrock he didn't purchase it directly from the cxracing site, he went on ebay, just typed in eclipse intercooler kit i think it was and it appeared, just look around for the one that looks like the pr kit, it even came with the bov as well.

Can't wait man. Might ditch my Apex'i if I can get the PR this cheap. Them selling it for $350+ isn't worth it in my opinion.

I'd say go for it man. It's a good price for everything it came with.
Also, not pictured, is the j-pipe and the pipe with the nipple already on it for when he gets his 16g rebuilt and installed.
It brings all that stuff that for the price it's a bargain.
You are an ebay master so just look up the fmic kits for these 2g and you will surely find it.
$260 shipped total is what my friend paid for it.
He had a greddy fmic kit, which was smaller, and had the apexi style piping route.
What an improvement.

I've had my PR Kit since the begining of this year when they 1st came out and I've been completely happy with it! I'll be sending it out to get anodized black this winter though so new pictures will be up. But for the price and everything you get, you can't beat it!

Would have went with VRS's kit but I wanted to keep my fog lights

What ebay vendor was selling them that cheap? Thats way less than what we buy the kits for so somebody is either up to something shady or we are getting screwed on a kit we help develop.

It looks good, matter of fact there is a guy from miami dsm running that same kit with that same piping route from that linkl, his name on tuners is chrispy0530 i think, he has a white gst.
I will post the link of the one my friend got which is less piping to have to put together.

He got the fmic from the same vendor but i guess the piping kit you will get varies.
He happened to get the kit with the long pipe in one piece where the bov connects to, which in my opinion, looks cleaner.

Yea Gamble tried to say you can get it cheaper on ebay too, but if you see my post after that I looked and it is not the same kit. I think I even referenced pictures to show the differences. The biggest being the piping and no fmic mount.

but if dsmj89's friend ordered that one above but got the actual piping that is the same as PR's kit, then yea he scored a deal. But obviously there is no gaurantee on that. Then the only problem would be purchasing the bracket.

Speaking of that bracket, you can get it also on ebay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/Alum-Intercooler...item5ad43bc6c5

but for the price shipped and taking a chance to see if you actually get the same pipes as the PR kit or the universal piping actually pictured just shows how fairly priced the PR kit to begin with, even more so if you got on it when they were a bit cheaper on sale.

My oh my, funny to see how the times have changed, back in the day the $800~ Greddy kit was the only option as far as "cheap" FMIC kit... now we complain about a more superior kit even priced at $300-$350

Not bad for $200.

Like I said he scored if he got the true punishment racing pipes for the price of the universal piping in the 2nd pic, esp if the auction he bought it from is the one showing the 2nd pic.

What are the chances future bidders get the same.

but its

$199 + $59 shipping, (come on now, you can't just say $200 + "shipping" when $59 is a significant chunk )

if you want the real deal bracket add

$49 + $12 shipping

Alum Intercooler Bracket Mounting bar 95-99 Eclipse 2G:eBay Motors (item 390107743941 end time Oct-28-09 17:57:42 PDT)

then it would just seem better getting it through punishment, for about the same price, and you dont gamble on getting the universal piping in the 2nd pic

That is true and i see where ayou are getting to as far as piece of mind and risk-taking.
But all is done and the new bracket seems to be doing great ! Fog lights clear good as well as the fog bezels too !
Some people will prefer the pr kit to avoid the chances of getting the kit that has more piping like you said, and some people will take that risk.

So DSMj89, can you clarify, your friend bought the kit for the link I posted, that SAME kit, that SAME seller and he received the PR kit pipes?

It seems vague whether you say he bought this same kit and 'got lucky' and got better pipes.
