Im looking at a 95 tsi awd with 63k miles. Trying to get 12s on the track, or how low I can go without a roll cage. I think etown requires roll cage at 11.99 or less so 12 flat is my goal.

Car is stock, but comes with many parts. Ebay fmic and hard ic piping. new 14b. 2.5 > 3" downpipe, 3" cat, 3" catback with silencer. Walbro 190. Ebay triple gauge pod with boost air fuel and temp gauges.

First thing I will do is install the 14b, fmic, fuel pump (and rewire), and the exhaust. Pull the ebay gauges and stick in autometer boost, a wideband, and either oil pressure or egt. What would I better off to tune with? dsmlink or a safc? If I would not be using the dsmlink to its full potential I would rather just save the money and throw in a safc. I know I will need some injectors, but which ones? What else do I need for the fuel system? afpr?

DSMLink since you have a 95, and therefore and EPROM. If you don't plan on anything other than a 14b, 550cc injectors are probably enough, but if you get DSMlink, just get larger ones in case you change your mind. You don't need the AFPR if you use a walbro 190. It shouldn't overrun the stock fuel system like a 255 pump might do.

Your going to need a 2g install kit to put that turbo on.

also i would get a fuel pressure regulator because its one more thing you can use to tune with. it just might be the thing you need to run that extra 1-2psi. if your planing on running a 12.0 with a 14b your going to need all the performance mods you can get...

nothing beats a really good tune! I personally think that fooling sensors is not my style so go DSMLink. Another thing is get that car a compression test and leakage test. Good idea to get a general feel for how worn things may be inside. Running 12's may need a tighter combustion chamber if it is worn at all. again what dnhieu is saying, every little bit will count (exspecially for 12 flat)

63k is pretty good for that old (grandma driven, high school kid driven...that may help in showing how the motor may be also :)

dsmlink for sure. it's going to be very tough getting that 14b to run 12 flat. i would look into a turbo upgrade if you plan on hitting 12.00. also, dsmlink is much better than the safc. also, a wideband will be a very useful tool to assist in tuning with dsmlink. also, weight reduction will help a lot achieving those times. breaking into the 12's with a 14b is already pretty good, just for reference

I chose the 14b because this will be mostly a street car. Do you think my 12.0 goal is too quick for a daily driver? I wanted to keep the mods simple and keep the engine unbuilt.

How many lbs would I need to push to get down to 12? Is around 18-20 psi bad for a daily driver?

Of course I am going to start aiming at different numbers and work my way up. I never owned a manual car, but have driven a few of my friends' cars around, so a lot of the time will be knocked off just by driving around learning the shift and clutch points.

And before the question is asked, yes I want to keep the car a daily driver. If that means I cant get down into 12 flat and have to stay at 13 or 12.8 or w.e, I am ok with that.

honestly, 12.0 isnt that reasonable for a 14b. it has been done, but it is pushing the limits. a 16g is pressed to do a 12.0 easily. i plan to hit high 11's this summer, which will be done either with a fp3052 or a 3065. i still believe that this is streetable. i am not saying that it cannot be done with a 14b, but not the average driver can achieve it. something along the lines of a 50trim or larger is in line. i personally like the fp series as it comes with their custom bolt on turbine housing and the gt30r center cartridge, along with a anti surge compressor cover.

now if you just want to be at 13.0, then yes, thats is A LOT more obtainable with a 14b. that can be done with the mods you have listed as well as dsmlink and a good tune. honestly though, i would just go with the 16g, they are easy to come by and spool real quick. i personally thing 14b are just way too small, its a stock turbo. go with something larger and you wont regret it.

like you said, practicing driving stick will help you a lot. my first and only time at the track, i started with a 14.4, within 2 more runs i had brought it down to 13.6, just goes to show that driving is VERY important.

sorry...i kinda rambled
