Explain to me why it is nearly impossible to read actual knock on a 2g dsm. The only program I have ever seen that will read knock on a 2g is dsmlink. I do not understand why it is so difficult. I have heard that the way the signal is transmitted in a 2g is more complicated than on a 1g, so what. It can't be that hard to make something capable of reading knock. It is only a computer system, someone has to be able to design a cheap program or unit that is capable of reading knock on a 2g...

If its "only a computer system", why havent you designed something for it yet?

I get requests like this at work all the time from people who dont understand computers, or engineering. Its quite annoying to see someone with no clue trivialize the amount of work that has to be done. You make it sound easy, so go do it.

You will find that the stock 2G ECU doesnt put the knock data out in its data stream, and you have to replace the eprom with one modified to spit that data out. Oddly enough, that seems to describe DSMLink, the one way to be able to read knock from the ECU on the 2G.
