I got my dsmlink In the mail that I bought off someone on here, I downloaded the software on the computer, hooked up the new ecu up plugged the key span in the port in the car, and plugged the USB into the computer, when I go to turn the car on it just died out immediately and the fuel pump keeps turning on and off, and when I try to do something on the computer it says the action times out and I can't do anything on it, does anyone know what's wrong? I'm a complete beginner at this I was just going to upload a 2 step until I get the car tuned

Was it running before? Make sure your injectors are set correctly. Set them with the key in the ON postion without the car running. Then start her up again.

Sometimes the chip is burned for a certain injector size...if you are not getting the proper amount of fuel your car will not run. Head over to ECMLink and watch all the videos I guarantee all the info to get you started is easily accessed.

Ya the car was running perfectly when I bought it off the person I got a whole nother EPROM chipped and socketed that I just plugged in
And ok I'll take a look at the videos and tutorial, I just don't get why it won't let me do anything with the link on the computer it always just says it timed out

The chip probably has the settings from the previous owner, which I am 99.9% sure are wrong for your car.

Can you turn the key to ON, fire up link, and have it connect successfully? If v3, have you installed the drivers for the cable? That sounds like where your issue lies with the time out responses.

Did you download the v3 software to use (hopefully you did)? If so, when you go to "Configure connection..." on the main screen, did you configure it for "DSMlink v2 - 1g DSM"?

I didn't download the v3 software but yes I did click v2 1g dsm when I fired it all up for the first time, I plugged the stock ecu in and it started right up

Ok i got v3 installed and the update as well... whats the next step i should take? sorry for seeming retarted or anything i know absolutely nothing about computers or tuning or anything LOL i was a sports guy in highschool not a car guy until last year this is all brand new to me and very frustrating might i add

I configured everything to v2 1g and its still doing the exact same thing, the fuel pump is going crazy and it keeps shutting on and off, and it still says connection is invalid im getting pissed already and im about to just walk away from it i dont understand how i can have a problem just hooking the damn thing up its nothing but problems... its saying its not recieving a signal back

Edit: noone else has any idea of whats going on...?
