There's a place locally I can get a 2G-type MAS very cheaply. The problem is it's out of a Diamante. I've heard conflicting reports about the other MASs Mitsu made. That they are calibrated differently and have odd effects. Can anyone confirm this or know that these other MASs are safe?

Do you have a SAFC or such form of piggyback fuel control?

As long as you do, then it should be fine, as long as it is big enough and you have a logger. It is very easy to use a SAFC to adjust for any differences betwen MAF's.

However! I have this gut feeling that this MAF is not big enough for your purposes, so you will not see much of an improvement over the 1g MAF.

The 3000GT's use the same MAF as the 2g, if that helps you at all...

I have a MAF out of a Diamante and I have had no problems whatsoever.

2g Mas = 3000GT/2G/Diamante etc

HUGE differance between it and the 1g... I recomend that mod early on for anyone modding :D

Hmm.. I wonder if mistu used the same "2g" MAS in all of the cars it produced after a certain date? That would certainly make it much easier to find them....

Did early 3000GT's use the "big" MAS's as well, or did they switch parts in the mid 90's?

Just put mine on along with Mazda 550's. HUGE difference, easy install, and no more fuel cut! Mine was from a 97 turbo car though.
