I'm pretty pleased with the idea of the new big maps, I don't really need them but they come at a time when I already have to rescale since I'm running off the edge of the stock map with my load right now and desperately need to rescale.
I agree that it is nice to have everything put together already and the new nomenclature for tephra and sd roms is pretty nice.

yea i wanna run ecu based boost not for traction but for just more fine tuning boost so it'll hold better and lower it for high gear knock so i dont sacrifice low gear tune and timing. ^_^. can you log it for the hell of it and let me know what value you get? thnx
Yeah, I'm at around 29 psi all the way up. With a MBC, I can hold a max of like 23 if I have the low end at 32. I'm running around 25 in 1st gear so I [almost] have traction, and I have the boost come on a little smoother instead of the crazy hit the 16g has which breaks the tires loose in 2nd and breaks clutches and trannies.
thnx! , yea im a little confused with the whole v7 still. lol. just havent read enough about it i guess. yea i just ordered my fmic and tail bov so im broke for now... no wide band no sensors.... no turbo. smh
Theres not much that the standard V7 patch changed except for a few little features with boost control and the larger tables which you wont need close to the load numbers they supply so scale them down and convert the tables using your old values and fill in between smoothing out the graphs in the process and you wont have a problem. I havent messed with the SD patch yet because I dont have the sensors.

I really like the new big maps, because they can A allow for more resolution if sticking with 260 as max load or B you can now tune higher hp cars in a nicer way. Either way i like my V7 patch but i did start having some random knock today after flashing the new rom. Might of forgot to change the knock tables but other than that it seems good so far.

umm i mean the adjusting boost and boost based gear , ect ect. i know its not hard just havent looked in to it in detail since i cant realy apply it yet...
FWIW I've never bothered to log wgdcc. Basically I started tuning boost with WGDC and had correction turned off. I've never bothered to turn it back on.

totaled yesterday.. smfh.. parting it out have some parts i never installed. looking for an evo
Sucks to hear the cars totaled but that evo will be plenty fun. On another note anyone using the fpr solenoid as a bcs have any problems with opening up completely on random occasions?
Opening up as in WOT? Or opening up as in losing all boost pressure? Or bleeding off all pressure so you overboost?
I used to have an issue with overboosting but it turned out I just didn't understand boost tuning and was going about it backwards and missing out on all of it because of error correction.
As for issues while going WOT I never had any but at this point I'm actually starting to think that the FPRs is a poor BCS if you don't have SD because it vents to the atmoshpere, nowhere near like a bov and really smaller than even small vacuum leaks but it may be something that can be modifiable. Then again it is an amount that you can pretty much tune for, you'll never open it in closed loop and at a given load the amount of air venting should be pretty constant.
I had it backwards in my previous post. It stays closed and doesn't bleed any air no matter if its at WOT or cruise trying to create some boost. For example last night on my way home i was getting on the fwy here and couldn't get over 7psi (wg spring pressure) in any gear. Then after i get off the fwy i was able to create my set boost levels again so im assuming the solenoid didn't bleed any of the air out and caused me to run wg pressure. And i did think about the air thats being vented but that shouldn't be a problem for someone with a stockish intake pipe with the nipple for the stock bcs. Im thinking i might just have a bad solenoid since my connections seem solid and the lines are all fine.
It sounds like a bad solenoid BUT try swapping the wires, maybe the FPRs is sensitive to polarity?
Did you modify the FPRs so that you could hook the exhaust port up to your intake?
On evolutionm.net they talked about the evo EGR solenoid working as a good boost controller and the only advantage I see there is the ability to recirculate the exhausted pressure. I have no idea if the DSM EGR solenoid is similar though I'll take a look at it next time I have my hood open.
That's what came to mind, ill try switching around the wires and if not i think i have a spare solenoid in my garage. I didn't recirculate it back into my intake (im running an FP intake without the port) but like i said its simple enough on a stock or stockish intake.
I finally put v7 on my car tonight. I tried switching all the 2g MAF stuff over (Baro Comp, filtering, MAF Comp, etc) in hopes that my tune won't vary as much with the weather.
Last weekend when the temps dropped into the low 30s, I was running lean because the MAF was reading wrong. To top it all off, "less air" dropped me into lower load cells, so I was also running more timing. **Knock Hell** until the car fully warmed up and I got into stop and go traffic (air temps went up).
I was trying to get the low Hz stuff dialed in tonight while parked at a local supermarket. My laptop went dead, and as I was leaving, I passed a cop on the way into the parking lot. Someone may not have appreciated me revving in the parking lot for half an hour.
I was hoping to get it dialed in tonight because I have a 3 hour drive home from college tomorrow.

Ok, so I've been thinking about taking my car to the track soon. However, I noticed that the stationary rev limiter is not working. I remember that somewhere in this (massive 30 page long) thread, someone talked about some wiring changes to make this work.

Does anyone recall those changes?
Yep i posted up the instructions. You need to cut the wire going to pin 43 and then splice the ecu side of that into the red/black wire on the cruise control switch. Then just make the changes to your startionary rev limiter in ecuflash and enjoy.
Does anyone have the rpm/speed to gear settings for a 2g fwd? Or can they point me in the right direction to figure it out myself?

Anyone have a somewhat stock evo8 rom with the immobilizer disabled? I just want to get the car to run on the evo 8 ecu with something like this before I move on to the tephramod stuff.

hey did you get it ? honestly its not that hard.. . you can run 9653, 9417 ect... and get the periferary table open the faa table and bit 3 set 0
btw guys ill b back in the dsm world soon lol. evos are way more expensive than i realized. lol. not spending the next 5 years paying for a 4g63t with 4doors. lol. so yea.... cant wait!!!

No suprise.
You had practice on the first car. Now you can do it right.
I wish I could afford a clean car to just start over on.

Ok, so I wired pin 43 to the cruise control switch, and now the 2-step works perfect. However, NLTS - not so well. When i turn it on, it just seems to randomly cut fuel in mid acceleration (even when I'm completely off the clutch). Any ideas on this? Anyone have NLTS working on 96530006?
What version tephra mod are you using? I remember at least a few of the patches had errors that were fixed by later versions of the patch. I haven't tried NLTS with my v7 patch yet but when i was using 5.10 i never had a problem.
I'll be going in for inspection sometime this week. My inspection ran out the end of October. I had an exhaust leak I had to get fixed first. Around here, I'm not even sure they plug it in. I don't have emissions in my county.
EDIT:
I'm getting fed up dealing with trying to get the 2g MAF working flawlessly with the evo 8 ECU. It has it's good days, and it has it's really bad days. I think I'm going to order the stuff to convert to SD this week and get it over with.
For those of you running SD, what MAP and IAT sensors are you using (Omni, JDM, GM/Delphi, Ebay special, etc)? Also, are you using the VE tables in the stock SD roms to start off, or are you using some other VE map because of cam differences?

has anyone passed inspection lately with the evo8 ecu? and what kind was it was it the "dyno" or them just plugging it in? and how did you pass?
Yeah, I just passed smog and OBD-II inspection with my Evo 8 ECU. There is some additional OBD-II Inspection code that needs to be put into the XML. I don't have it with me now, If you PM me I can send it to you from my work comp.

Hmmm..interesting. I'm not even really sure what version of tephra mod I'm running. Stupid question, but how would I upgrade to tephra v10? How do you upgrade?

Tephra v5.10 was put out a while back.
Tephra v7 is more recent.
And on another note:
I finally go around to reading New thread for Speed Density tuning?... - evolutionm.net and things are starting to make sense. From what I'm reading, I should just use the stock Evo 8 MAF settings, and then adjust the VE tables to get it all squared away.
If someone else tells me what sensors they have, I might get those same ones so that we can compare numbers.

I'm using a GM 3bar and the GM AIT (only one real option on that one). The stock tables will work to get the car around but you'll want to edit them. Mine is running pretty well right now without touching the RPM VE table but I have a very different MAP VE table. You can basically follow the evos in their tables for idle and cruise but above about 5psi it looks like our cars are a little bit less efficient (what a big surprise...). After you get those dialed in you can use your impressive MAF hacking skills to fine tune it the same way that you did with the 2g MAF though it should already be much closer and easier, I haven't even touched the actual MAF tables and so far I'm happy with everything except for cold low throttle and even that is getting pretty close to working well.
When you get that far you should have plenty of help available here.
The long decimals come from using interpolation for smoothing.
I've also been meaning to ask you since you seem to have become to some degree or another the local expert on 2g MAF tables, do you have a set of tables that you consider "good enough" for distribution? I'm finally a little bit motivated to start producing a few stock roms for anyone who feels like swapping into the evo ecu.
