Don't you mean on 95-96 years?
Pretty sure the 97+ have a CAS signal like the Evos. It should be the same as doing the CAS inversion / injector plug swap on the 97+ cars the same way as when we would install the 95 ECU for DSMLink or one of Keydiver's chips.

This CAS Inversion fixes the injector issue, but you still need to swap plug wires 1&2, and 3&4 if you have a 1997+ car, or have done a 1G 6-bolt swap.

could be, i am not entirely positive on the years. i thought it the 95 had the cam/crank sensor on the head like the first gen cars, the 96 - 97 had separate cam and crank sensors both at the front of the block, and the 98 - 99 were separate only the crank was on the front of the block and the cam was on the back of the head, like the EVO. i know i have a 96 and had to swap plugs to get it to run and the injectors to get it to run smoothly.

95/96's have the cam sensor on the crank pulley side while 97-99 all had them on the opposite side. The crank sensor is in the same position for all models.

Clockwork, and anyone else that might be plagued with a P0501 and/or P0622. just a little "info you" i am getting a cell for O2 sensor 2 heater circuit every time i start the car but it seems to be accompanied with Generator FR terminal circuit malfunction DTC and an idle DTC. i am assuming the o2 DTC is the one that is tripping the CEL because it just started coming on the other day but every time i reed the ecu the other two pop up. so i got to looking at the FSM for the EVO and i think i might have found something that may be contributing to these two codes. i pulled this from the EVO's FSM

CIRCUIT OPERATION
• The ECM (terminal 41) apply a battery positive
voltage into the generator FR terminal No. 4 via
resistance inside the unit.
.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION
• When the generator field coils are controlled, the
generator FR terminal inputs signal to the ECM.
The ECM detects the generator output with the
input signal, and controls the idle air control
motor according to the generator output.
.
DTC SET CONDITIONS
Check Conditions
• Engine speed is higher than 50 r/min.
Judgement Criteria
• Input voltage from the generator FR terminal has
continued to be approximately battery positive
voltage for 20 seconds.
.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS (The most likely
causes for this code to be set area: )
• Open circuit in generator FR terminal circuit.
• ECM failed.

so i am thinking maybe,,, doesn't the eclipse have an alternator that is rated a bit lower than the EVO's and from reading the technical description and check conditions i would think if you get one you would more than likely get the other. so i am going to do a little more research and testing to see what i come up with....

Tooned Gus's car last night. One thing noted by the evo8 ecu, its really consistant. From one pull to the next, everything is really consistant unlike 2g ecu w/ dsmlink. Probably have to do with the data processing rate of these ECU's compaired to that of a 2g.

Good to hear. I'm sure the load-based aspect helps the consistency also.

Only down side was that we couldn't log load. Other than that im content with my car at making 302whp @ under 20psi (17-18) on crap 91octane. Next dyno day ill be sure to bring some racegas and up the boost!

I just guessed load value off of logged timing valueXRPM. Works for WOT tuning, but need to be able to log load value if you want to get the all around driving great.

I tried the ecu load and load calculated but neither worked. The functions might be off (because for some reason when in installed evoscan on this laptop the functions went crazy)

here is what i noticed with mine.. if i am trying to view my data log with the map viewer in evoscan it wont work unless i have some kind of load logged. only problem is that with loadcalc it will only go up to 160 on the map. weird thing is if i try to view the same logg on just the graph the load just shows up as a flat line at 0... if you are still using the 9652 rom then you might try using the 2 byte load mod. i just set it up last night so i am going to try it out this morning and see how it works. unfortunately they haven't found the 2 byte mods for the 9055 rom yet.

Im actually still using the 9927 rom, and as far as the "ecuload" goes i saw the values on my evoscan were off, so i fixed that BUT i haven't been able to log since i kind of killed my cable after the dyno session. Mike you should definetly double check to see if the values under "functions" in your evo scan are right because i noticed at least half of mine were off and i had to edit them in order to get the proper readings.

Guys, Im having a logging problem with the loads. It appears through evoscan that load is actually dropping while the motor is being rev'd up. Is there any info on what may be wrong? Since the ecu is load based i want to make sure its adding timing/fuel correctly. I am running a maft but I plugged in my old 2g maf and had the same results. This is really preventing us from further tuning. Thanks

Well to everyone who is wondering about the load logging i decided to do the tephra mod along with a couple other mods (like the 2byte datalogging mod). This should be much more accurate for tuning, the only problem is that ive been so busy with school that i haven't had a chance to try it out BUT i will do a few logs this weekend and post up my results. Also to mike and anyone who is trying to get rid of an emissions cel (for people running USDM roms like myself) or an idle cel (like i was dealing with) I managed to do the periphery bit mod and just turned those cels off along with the immobilizer code.

Im assuming your load values were still increasing? Anyone have even the slightest idea how those values are being inverted? Thanks

Actually last time i tried to log ecuload it would plateau at a certain value and not rise anymore. That's why i decided to go a different route.

i don't see why you wouldn't be able to use it in a 1g with the proper wiring conversion, but it would be a lot of work.

all i will say about that is that it is a lot cheaper. but a bit more of a headache.

i had the same problem when using the calculated load function in evoscan..... once i switch over to the 2byte load i had no problem with going over 160 load value.

Mike,

Are you using the 96530006 rom with the tephra mods? If so, How is it running? Are you using 2g maf or evo 8 maf? Did you just copy and paste maf size, scaling, and smoothing over from the 99270000 edm rom?

Sorry for all the questions, but I am currently running the 9927 rom that gsxdna sent me that is set up for the 2g maf. When I pull up maf scaling and smoothing the numbers in the left column don't match up between the 2 roms, so i didn't know if the table was set up correctly or if the points were completely different.

I'm sorry for being a little bit thick here but can anyone send me a rom from a running car with no CELs? I'm going to be going out and installing my ecu today and I would like to minimize the potential areas for error so that I can make sure that my wiring and install are correct before I start playing with the software.

I have downloaded the tephra modded 96530006 and 90550001 and I have evo8 injectors that I plan on putting in right away but I haven't really gotten to the point that I'm fully understanding what is going on here. If I install either of the tephra modded roms should the immobilizer already be disabled or will I have to do something with that? I know I'll have to change the maf scaling but the car should be able to turn on even if I don't just to make sure that I have a running car afterward right?

Sorry for the numbskull questions but I like to gather as much information as possible all at once before actually getting my hands dirty. I've found that that saves a lot of headaches over time.

Also, has anyone been using a wideband with this? I plan on installing mine temporarily in the rear o2 bung so does the evo8 ecu get pissy if that input isn't there? Also what should I connect the analog out to if I want to log it? I searched all the evoscan and evo ecu threads on these forums and couldn't find any answers.

From my experience with this so far i think its a little hard to get a rom with now cels. The only way i got rid of my cels was by turning off the rear o2, egr, immobilizer code, and idle system check via the ecu. I would suggest getting either and edm rom or a usdm rom with the thephra mods/periphery bit mod so you can disable all of these. And i finally realized what my initial problem with the maf scaling was. The problem with the values given by gsxdna is that is is a scaling for his specific setup; while its a decent starting off point don't expect your car to stay on with these values. Ive had really good luck with the 9653 rom, and with the mods i described. About the wideband like i said if you disable the rear o2 or use the similation mod you can get away with running your wideband in the rear o2 bung (like im doing). The most important thing to remember is to disable the immobilizer code and to use the maf scaling/size provided by gsxdna as a starting off point. If you have any other questions after doing the swap im sure either someone on this board of I would be willing to help you out.

Also what should I connect the analog out to if I want to log it? I searched all the evoscan and evo ecu threads on these forums and couldn't find any answers.
I'm running 9927 with no cel.....well i have an iac code, but thats because its unplugged. I'm not running a rear o2 and the ecu doesn't trip a code. I mean, its not even plugged in. As far as i know, to log wb w/ evoscan, it needs a serial output. I would imagine u could run it thru the rear 02 signal wire (output would have to be 0-1 volt) and change function in evoscan. Or you could also run it thru the manifold map sensor signal wire (0-5 volts) and change the function for that. The map sensor wire would probably be best so you have a more accurate reading.

I've gotten to the point where I've done all the wiring and hooked the battery back up. I have not dealt with the two pins involving the AC fans because I'm not sure how to get them to stay in. Do I need a pinning tool? Steve said that for the flash wire at least I could just stuff a wire into the pin and probably be okay but I think that these two need to be more permanent. Is there any solution besides getting a pinning tool?

I've put the car into the on position and read codes from it so I know that the ecu is working and communicating with the obd2 port but I'll need to run to the parts store to buy some wire before I can flash it since I don't have the secondary port. So far I'm getting a fuel temperature sensor error code which I think I can safely ignore.

I was surprised really at how easy this swap is. I've spent about an hour to do it and I was taking my time and triple checking things. The hardest part so far was getting my fat hands in where I could pull the bolts to get the old ecu out.

Sorry for all the questions, but I am currently running the 9927 rom that gsxdna sent me that is set up for the 2g maf. When I pull up maf scaling and smoothing the numbers in the left column don't match up between the 2 roms, so i didn't know if the table was set up correctly or if the points were completely different.
right now i am running the 96530006 rom and was doing well with only the every now and then CEL for the generator fr circuit and idle circuit until the rear o2 sensor went dead. As far as maf goes i am running a MAFT gen2 with the output set to an evo8 and evo8 injectors so i really didn't have to touch anything.
