ok so if i go 1000cc inj i can use the apexi neo to tune it i hope because i dont have the cash for the dsm link got a old lady LOL. I found some 1k inj for 50 each low resist that sound like ok inj not sure im usta domestic stuff LOL

If you're going 660cc or over you need a chipped EPROM to tune on afc and a maf-t. It'd better to sell your afc and getting the dsmlink. I mean getting a chipped EPROM, maf-t and selling your neo safc would probably be enough for the dsmlink.

Yes the "horse power in the box" is really called a maf transtlator (maf-t). It allows you to run the gm maf and gives you injector compensation. I would not tune alone with this if you go with large injectors, because dialing them in can take a bit. I would at least find a cheap safc so you can tune inside the car and use the maf-t for injector compensation. 1000cc injectors, safc and a wbo2 so you can watch your afr's and tune the e85.

If you really can wait and buy dsmlink then do it. But if you really want to run e85 now get the safc. There are three versions. SAFC1, SAFC2, SAFC Neo. Get either the SAFC1, or 2. The neo does not work right with our cars.

I have a 90 talon tsi with a evo 3 16g and 272 cams. Sould i switch to e85 or not. And what are hp # for e85 at like 20 to 25 psi and what is it like to dd it. Streetalbe or not.

Try using that little search feature up there bud.

At the levels you are mentioning, I would not bother trying to run e85.

If you profile is up to date I would research and see what you need. You have a lot of money to spend before you can go e85. Like a fuel system that can handle it (fuel pump, large injectors, recommended aftermarket fuel filter). You will also need a good engine management system to tune the afr's like dsmlink, aem, emanage, or flashed eprom ecu. Also a wbo2 gauge is pretty much essential to tune a car and e85 mix's change so its good to see your afr's all the time.

On the other hand without e85 anything over 22psi is hard to run on a 16g unless you have meth injection to help keep detonation down. You can run lots of boost with e85, its pretty much like 110 octane or better but rated at 105.

People should keep in mind that it is not e85 all the time. The change the blend depending on the seasons so keep in mind that as the weather changes so does the blend you are running and so will your tune.

Exactly thats why I mention a wbo2 is essential when running e85. Its technically never really 85% even during the best time of the year. The tune changes very slightly and wouldnt bother me since I run 11.1-11.3 afr so if it does lean out Im still in a safe range.

I wouldn't start running it knowing we're going into winter. Especially with you living in Minnesota. E-85 is hard starting in cold weather. The benefits of E-85 are great but the negatives out weigh it. I would prefer some water/alky injection over Ethanol.

It's great stuff if you know enough about it. If your set on wanting to do it don't let other peoples opinions steer you the other way.

What's there to know other than it's a renewable High octane fuel, which suppresses knock very well, with a limited availability (mostly midwest), in which gets less gas mileage, hard starting in cold weather, oh yea and it's a felony to the EPA if you convert a non FFV to the fuel (if they ever find out.)

Did I miss anything?

My buddy runs the stuff and has had great success with it. Yet, I'm still not impressed.

you need to know how to tune with it. Your settings change. You run around 30% more fuel at WOT.
