I am having issues with the MPI/CAS circuit need some help please
I installed MSD on the car and it would loose ignition at 6,200 rpm and bring it back soon later. I redid all the wiring going to the MSD called them several times till I finally gave up and took it off the car.
after it was off I was doing some logging and I noticed the RPM, injector duty cycle pulse width etc.. looses signal at 6281 rpms then comes back at 7,800 I do not know how the car kept pulling but I cannot feel it at all on the but dyno. I started out replacing the CAS since that pretty much controls everything. it still had the same problem so I started testing the engine harness.
the ground zeros out to chassis ground the signal wires have 5 volts the red wire however DOES have battery voltage with key on but with the key off it shows 4 ohms resistance to ground.
I am not sure if this is supposed to be like this but I would assume it shouldn't. I have done a few things to simplify the circuit to try and find a ground out.
1. remove the MPI relay
2. remove the ECU
3. unplug the all the sensors near by the cas plug
with everything removed it still has resistance to ground.
the problem I am having is when I bought this car the battery was relocated to the trunk and there is no MPI fuse up front, the BCS is not there (cannot find the plug) and there is no fuel pressure solenoid.
if I were to hard wire the MPI relay to the NECESSARY components what has to be hooked up to the 12volt output no the relay?
I am a car stereo/ 12volt specialist 6 days a week so the wiring wouldn't be a big deal I just need to know.
1. is the wire having 4ohms resistance to ground normal?
2. if it isn't how would you go about fixing it?
sorry about the long post but I think this needs some background.
thank you in advance for any help
