Dsm Link Question

I switched out my stock ecu for what i was told was another 1990 ecu only eprom so that i could run dsm link, the only problem is that the tach doesn't work making me guess that it isn' t a 1990 ecu but i still pick up a tach signal can anyone help me out on why that would still work

Yes you will but it will jump around.

the signal isn't jumping around though, but the tach itself doesn't work, i can pick up the signal through the ecu using dsm link

Post the numbers on the ECU, MDXXXXXX.

That is a 90' ECU.

so can you think of some reason that i'm not picking up the signal on the tach?

Swap the old ECU back in and see if the problem persists.

Only reason that would happen is if your car is a 91+. or maybe the last owner swapped the coil and transistor to be able to run a 91 ecu ?

Well, what's the part number on the old ECU?

i sold that a while ago but it was a 90 ecu number if i remember since i referenced the number for the eprom but ended pulling it out and getting one
