SD would be cool. I hope they offer a cheap upgrade option form V2 though.

dont plan on it anytime before mid to end of 08 at the earliest, you guys have to understand that v3 is like windows 98 to xp its going to take a while with a totally new code. I was just emailing tom and he said he is just way to busy with other things in his life that he can't devote very much time to V3. But all the more reason for you guys with experience with programing code to help out.

Im sorry but this stuff really kills me im a big supporter of the honda crowd and they all teamed up and developed multiple progams to alter the stock code (uberdata-crome) and it's all Free! Then there is Dsmer's handing over $550 for the same thing. I guess were are not as determined as them.

Uh, you obviously have no idea what dsmap is then. You need to do a search on that one.

typical dsmers reaction. I could understand paying for link but i think it's way to much for what you get. The funniest part about this is i tune link on a daily basis along with the honda programs and AEM and Megasquirt. and out of all of them link is the most constrictive programing. It gets the job done though.
I want to apoligise to all the link lovers i P'ed off. I am never bringing this up again.

think about it this way, Tom spent hundreds of hours writing code and for his knowledge and know how, by selling the link for that price he is recouping the labor involved in righting the code.
If you and you honda buddies want to make a chip and code and spend hundreds of hours writing the code for free. Be my guest, but its really kind of stupid to put that much work into something and barely get anything out of it.

I agree with TurboAnything.... dsmlink is a lazy rich kid's way out of ACTUALLY having knowledge of those things involved.
Riding on the coattails of someone else's research.

Okay this thread is about when v3 is coming out. Not about how Honda guys have a program like link they get for free. No one cares. People will spend their money how they want to. I'm not at all saying this because I'm a "link lover", I'm saying it because you went into a thread specifically about when v3 is coming out to dog on it. There's nothing wrong with someone asking for something in return when they've worked so hard to make it readily available. They aren't forcing anyone to buy it. If you're so set on making it for free, make it! I'd love to see it happen, really. It'd save me $600.
And to blingStatus: uh, hello? But everything on your car is a product of someone else's knowledge. I'm not some "lazy rich kid", I've been saving for over a year to get my car done. And I'll be getting DSMlink. It has a lot more to offer then the SAFC, which would be my only other option. And if you can explain to me how you don't need to know anything to tune with link compared to the SAFC, feel free, but do so in a new thread. Stop jacking this one.

Do you know how stupid you just sounded.
I'm going to laugh when someone codes up a free version of dsmlink and ecmtuning goes out of business.

Unfortunately, there is something called a copyright for that reason alone. I would like to see someone try, then get the shit sued out of them.

The Honda guys did not code their own program, they hacked/reverse engineered the Honda Factory Racing tuning software.
DSMLink is the best tuning software out for a DSM car hands down, anything else is a universal fit hack job.
You want to make your own e-prom chip and tuning software go ahead, it will likely take you 5-10 years but I am sure a person of your skill level will be able to complete the task.

Yeah, I'm confused?
I'm also a huge supporter of ECMtuning. They answer questions very quickly and in a proffesional manner, another reason why I'm set on getting link. The fact that they stand behind their product alone is reason enough for me to buy it.
Edit: Bushy maybe you thought I was serious about the free version of link? Sorry for the confusion if that's the case.

For 1g's, you can do everything and more then dsmlink v3 will be doing already. All you need to do is sign up on the yahoo group and use your brain.
The 2g code never really got going because the intrest isnt there. The 2g owners apparently are content with paying hundreds of dollars for stuff that can be had for free, if the community was willing to develop it.
