MAP BAR with Dsmlink
Kind of a dumb ass question
Can you use a map bar sensor with dsmlink for a 2g?
Thanks....

You can log several different types of MAP sensors using DSMLink. AEM 5 bar, GM 3 bar, greddy boost, etc. Also, you can make DSMLink to run a pseudo speed density setup above a certain airflow Hz range using a MAP sensor and the FakeMAF option. This can be useful if you are overrunning your MAF.

Can you elberate on this a bit more?
I am overrunning the shit out of the 2g MAS
What speed density unit are you using?
Doesnt this make it increaingly difficult to tune around?

It is not a real speed density setup. The FakeMAF option in DSMLink makes the ECU ignore the signal from the MAF at a certain airflow HZ level, and it bases airflow off of airflow/rev, VE (which you must setup yourself), and some other things I believe. You want the switchover to occur after you have reached a stable boost level.
If you are logging an external boost sensor (GM 3BAR, AEM, etc.), you can have the FakeMAF use the MAP sensor in its airflow calculations.
This feature is built into DSMLink. It does not increase turnaround time in any way.

Yes, I am using DSMLink and a GM MAF/MAF-T setup. For a long while I used the FakeMAF option with a MAP.
Sorry, I misread "tune around" for "turn around." It does not make it too much more difficult to tune. You have to set up your VE table, but that is fairly easy to do, and the default settings are pretty accurate anyway.

Why did you got MAFT over Fake?
Do you still need to return the BOV into the intake?
Thanks your a big help

I was using the FakeMAF with my MAF-T. My GM MAF was poorly calibrated at the time, and I found the car ran much better when I was using the FakeMAF. Since then I have calibrated my GM MAF and no longer need to use the FakeMAF option to make the car run the way it is supposed to.
To blow off to atmosphere, you still need a MAF-T in blowthrough configuration, even with FakeMAF.

Very very cool...
Would you recommend this option over spending the extra for a MAFT?
It seems like this is a sound option... any disadvantages?
now wheres that rep points button thanks for all the useful info!!!

I do not understand how the FakeMAF works entirely, so I am not sure if there are any real disadvantages to using it. You will probably get better results in the end with a properly calibrated MAF-T setup, however. I just checked your profile and it says you have DSMLink already. If that is the case, jump on the DSMLink forums and search for FakeMAF. Lots and lots of good info on there, from people who know a lot more about it than me.
