TunerPro RT question

So i got the Osterich and TunerPro Rt all set up. But when i try to connect to my ecm or data log etc its says "serial port error: can not initialize port" ...i have windows XP. How would i go about initializing port? The setup .pdf that came with the software wasnt not really that informative on how to get this going. Any info would help
