dsm link ?

ok dsm link is now in the car and it runs great but i boot dsm link up and hit captur are it giveds me this
Faild:'java.io.I0excaptionort currently owned by unknown windows application' what should i do
i am in the serial port and i tryed switching to different coms on dsm link and on com 1 and 4 it says Faild:'java.io.I0excaption port currently owned by unknown windows application' and on com 2 and 3 it tells me 'java.io. application has been timed out. i think that my serial port on my computer is com 2 how do i check for sure. if any one on here is good with computers and can call me and walk me through this to help me get it working my number is 1719 320 5277 or droup me a line and ill call u back i got free long distance.

Why don't you contact DSMlink or post this on there private boards that only DSMlink user have access to.

i did haha now i am posting it here no one was helping me over there and i need to get this resolved so i can lean out my fuel

go to system properties -> device manager (how to get to that varies from win95-xp)

look under ports and then properties for your com ports

if you have one its usually com 1 and if you have two its usually (duh) 1 and 2

that error msg suggests to me that you of course aren't getting connection between the serial and the computer since its saying unknow port, rather then the serial port not talking to the dsmlink

I would check in your BIOS to make sure the serial port is indeed enabled and then make sure you have updated drivers for your motherboard.

steps to do the more advanced things are something that isn't easily done without knowing specifc info about your machine. if you are still having problems after checking this please tell me your operating system and your computer model at the very least.
