I was wondering if you install a high flow fuel pump, if it will make your car lose a little power? Because my freind installed a walbro this weekend and when he went to test drive it it felt somewhat slower.I don't know if it is because he has stock 450's still or what it is , but he is pretty down so if anyone has any info please let me know what can be done or should be done to make this better!
 
hmm.. well I would say that he could be flowing more gasoline and making the car run super rich but theoretically he shouldnt be considering he is still running the 450s which can only flow x amount.. Im not sure..
 
Walbro FP does raise the stock base fuel pressure and thus he would be running richer at lower boost pressure. If he want more tuning capability, he should consider an AFPR. In addition, an AFC would be better.
 
i say that you and your friend are junior mechanics who need some real help as far working on dsms........maybe if it wasnt you guys working on the car it would run a lot better.......this sounds like a case of being "Lost in the sauce"........try and take it to that guy over on Market Street and let him get his hands on that car........(flame of the year!)........Eric
 
Although we are talking about milliseconds here but by upping the pressure and maintain the same amount of injector opening time, you will get more fuel coming out.
I dont know how to explain this better but if you want to do an experiment with garden hose and time yourself with the senario I given, you will see the difference.
 
Sup Wade. Yeah, that is the best senario I can think of without using the private part.. LOL.....
 
On a 1G the base pressure shouldn't rise with a Walboro, only on a 2G is this a real problem. The reason this happens is that the way an FPR works is that it restricts the fuel flow by blocking a hole, no mater how much volume you have, the spring will maintain the pressure to a certain amount, *unless* there is so much volume that the hole itself becomes a restriction. This is the case on a 2G.

The truth is that there is no reason your friend's car should be slower. However the 2G phenomina sometimes can occur on a 1G and if your friend is genuinely concerned he needs to test the fuel pressure. I suspect that it is his/your imagination though.
