Resolved 90 Eclipse ECU (5902) & 90 Talon ECU (5903)

boostlessNT

(no, this isn't for my 94 NT)

Both are turbo
Both are M/T
Both are AWD
Both are 1990

Are they interchangeable?

I have the mitsu with a blown ECU (5902), have an offer for a Talon ECU (5903), will this work??

I've searched here, and other forums - no-one seems to have a straight answer. vfaq didn't have it, 1000Q didn't have it. Hopefully someone here might have a clue.

Thanks!

here is the link for ECU Part Numbers: http://www.vfaq.com/mods/ECUs.html

hope that helps you out:thumb:

Well shit.

That blows. Thanks for the info anyways, atleast it's a means to an end

Anyone got a 5902 ECU they want to offload? ;)

Sorry to disappoint you :p have you tried www.DsmTrader.com but be careful on who you buy from...make sure their address is not a PO Box, I don't trust PO Box mailing address. Try getting their phone# also and talk to them see if you can trust the person.

Good luck with your hunt

i dont think you understood on 1990 ecu r129 doesnt effect the cali or fed status. if it would i wouldnt be lookin for a 1990 fed eprom cuz i have 2 calis and i dont want to put on all that bs. id pay money to the first person who could tell me how to put a 1990ca in my fed car.

My previous statement was incorrect, you are right. On the 90's the only way to change it from ca to fed or visa-versa is to reprogram the eprom chip I believe. There is a real DSM ECU guru roaming these boards who goes by the name of steve, perhaps he will jump in or you can PM him.

to clarify i wasnt trying to call you out roastbeef i was just trying to stop the spread of the wrong info.because in hours using my big s button i have seen peole told to do that at least a dozen times. it also says that it works for 90-94 in a few other sites but i cant find it and i dont want to point the finger the wrong way.so could a new eprom change that? does keydriver do that???

I understand that. I totaly forgot about this thread until you brought it back...when i originally made my first post about the resistor I thought that was correct, I have since learned that on the 90's just changing the resistor does not always work. Therefore I corrected myself. :)

As far as the converting of the chip I believe steve can do this. If you plan to get a keydriver chip all you have to do is when ur filling out the order form and it askes you the original EPROM chip number you just say that you have like the E931 chip which would be the 91-94 FED code. Then all you have to do is solder in the resistor and you are done.

Make sense? steve, help me out here.
