Headlights staying on

Well my alternator took a crap on me over the weekend while doing a hard pull (got the 3 lights of death), i limped the car home on battery power. When i went to turn the car off, the headlights stayed on, no matter what position the switch was in. i pulled the negative off the battery and then replaced the alternator and started her back up. A full 14.5V constant and good battery voltage (13.2V).... But my headlights come on when the car gets turn off. jsut the head lights. everythign else seems to work fine.
the relays for the headlight are fine (replaced them) and the alternator fuse looks ok

so here are the facts of this situation:

* this problem occured after alternator died
* the fuses and relays underhood are good (the ones next to the air filter)
* the alternator is good, the battery is good.
* as long as the engine is running, the lights work perfectly.
* if key is in ACC or ON without engine on, the lights come on.
* all battery connections and alternator connections are tight.

i think the main things are in BOLD. ANY suggestions would much appreciated

Hm. Bad headlight switch, or a headlight relay that's sticking?
