this blows i had to push my car over 15 miles when it over heated and as i was pushing it i was noticing i was leaving anti-freeze on the road so i got home woke up next morning and all collant drain so i put soem pre dilluted stuff in and see where leak is coming from. It seems to e coming from right by the alternator and to the right of the oil filter. Is their a hose their that needs to be replaced or could this be sign of dieing water pump. i ahve a 91 eagle talon tsi awd w/ 125,000 miles. If its a hose what size is the hose?

Thanks

NO! not the drain plug.. there IS A HOSE that is right by the alternator!!

Get a new hose from autozone and replace it, you'll be happy as a clam.

The water pump is right above all that too, along with it's weep hole. You might need a water pump but you won't know until you get in there and look.

i fixed the leak but the car's still overheating and there plenty coolant in the reserve tank. What could it be?

Most likely a stuck thermostat (185-195) don't bet on the radiator sucking water from that reservoir, check the level at the cap over the thermostat with motor off - 50/50 antifreeze & water mix, only holds 2 gallons total - I take it your Rad fan is coming on? Good Luck.

It prolly is, that's what caused the leak. TOO MUCH PRESSURE. dought it's your waterpump but get thermostat replaced like $7

hell no my temp gauge is fine and im so pissed off right now, because i went out drove the car till it got into the almost red which only took like 5 minutes i check under the hood and i hear my coolant in the reserve tank boiling, so im pretty sure i blew my head gasket. How much do those cost to fix? and some help fixing it wopuld be nice to cuz ive never done it before.

your temp gauge has nothing to do with thermostat. Thermostat lets the coolant frolw thru the engine, so do yourself a favor and replace the thermostat. If you have a blown head gasket it wouldn't hold right now on the turbo, and also if you wonna check it go park your car and run it for like 5 minutes stepping on the gas once in the while, then go out and look at your exhaust if it smells sweet or there is shit load of fluid behind the exhaust pipe the you have a leaking headgasket but I dought it.

Oh yeah boiling reservior tank means there is too much pressure in the system, so definitaly you don't have a leak.

yea soemone just told me to do that so i wnet outside and did it and it doesnt smell any diff then usual and theres nothnig comnig out the tail pipe. im gonna go see if i have air in the coolant right now. if that dont work where do you suggest i get the thermostat from?

thnaks for the help,
im relieved as hell that it aint the hg

they didnt have the 180 so i got the 195 autozone one itll make my car 15 degrees cooler i guess

It is the stat and it is easy yo replace. If you need help IM me, but you should do a timming belt and water pump if the milage is high.

well it think i fixed it i replaced the thermo now the car heats up a lil faster i think, maybe slower not sure. but i was comnig home from schhol and right befor i got home the temp spiked up to the line before red line and i was at a stopa dn when i accelerated from the stop i reached liek 3550 rpms and it went back down to normal. so i got out went under hood and the coolant in the resevoir was boiling so im thinking theres air in coolnig system so i let it cool down go out there let it idle tell thermo opens put cooalnt in till full then put rad cap back on and take it for liek a 20 min testdrive no overheatign problems. my question is would air in the collnig system casue the temp to get to almost redline? im just wondering. hopefully this fixed my prob if not. ill flush the system and refill it and if it still over heats its gotta be the HG, or the water pump but the pulley has no sway. so i hope this fixed it.

Yes air in the cooling system will cause the car to over heat. When you fill your car up with coolant, fill it up as much as possible, start the car with the rad cap off and wait like 5 minutes and you will notice the coolant go down as the car heats up, keep filling the system up until the car is fully warmed up and the coolant level doesn't change. Then fill the reservoir and you should be fine.

Check your rad cap while your at it too, if it doesn't hold pressure it could also cause the coolant to boil. (Pressure in the cooling system increases the Boiling Point of the coolant). If you can get a hold of a pressure tester, pressure test the cooling system as well as your cap.

Jack the front of the car up, and the air should come out with a cap off. Also 195 degree one is going to make your car run hotter 15 degrees, I would change it to 180 not good especailly for a turbo car.

no the guy at autozone said 195 would make it run cooler than 180. and the temp gauge does read a lil below normal now

dude are you like 3 years old wtf is bizzaro world supposed to mean you moron why dont you actually read the post. I was just quoting what the guy at autozone said you idiot. You sir are a loser and i give you a :thumbdown :thumbdown :thumbdown. Please dont respond to this thread again because i have fixed the problem.
