I have 2 questsion,,, I got my eagle a few weeks ago. Im now having a problem with my Ingnition key. It will not come out. I have to play with the gear selector. I took it to the dealer, they said its fine. Im like  , so what could it be? I mean the keys are like bran new, the ones i got from the dealer that i bought the car, is it the Ingnition or the selector?

my check engine light was on and i removed the - off my battery, and put it back on after a few mins, it went off, I drove down town and back, it stayed off, the other day I was headed to Lock Haven, and about 2/3rds there it came back on, Any ideas? your about the only hope that i have right now, UE, and short of funds.. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried rocking the steering wheel back and forth just a little as you try to remove the key???

As for your other problem check all the fluids, some dealers will pull codes as a matter of customer good will, give them a call.

Was that a key they cut at the dealer for you?

If you have another key that works then show them how easy that works as against what they made. For sure demonstrate the problem in front of someone... Service Advisor, Service Manager, or Parts Staff. You don't want the key to break off or jam in the lock so you have to buy a new ignition lock/switch. That will cost you maybe $100+ and a bunch of trouble that you don't need.

Sorry I wasn't of any more help.

GTM, it was the keys i got from the dealer, where i bought the car. I tryed the wheel thing, and i think thats it, but i will have them look at it, And you gave me some ideas so, it wasnt that you didt help, you where a great help, if you wasn't on the other side of the usa, i would take ya to BK or something  :thumb: :talon:

Ok on the key, you got a place to hang your hat if something goes south. Make sure when you take it in that they write it down that "key sticks in ignition". If 6 mo from now it really gets impossible you wave the key receipt and the repair order complaint in their face. _Normal_ process would be to split the cost of the part and the labor would be free, they could argue No you had the use of it and therefore you must pay all... to which you reply had they cut the key right in the first place you wouldn't have this problem. Second you can use fair damsel in distress with flat tire has to abandon car and accept ride from stranger leaving car alongside road bla bla bla. Don't over play the part a couple of tears should convince them was a defective car or defective key but you paid your money and this was unforseen thus they as experts are obligated for bla bla bla.

Maybe it's a guy thing and we take these things for granted. I've noted that when I introduce the key I automaticaly pull the steering wheel to the left with my left hand which helps me center my bottom in the seat. It may be that power steering units are designed to give the wheel just a little kick to the right when you turn the key off. In any case just take note if that happens and it will be an automatic response to give a little tug to the left. When parking on a hill all bets are off for your wheels are no longer centered so there may be additional pressure on the steering lock and you will have to hunt to find the neutral (no pressure) on the key lock. I've heard the complaint a few dozen times with new to car owners but this was the first time in email posting so it didn't kick in my head as the instant solution.

Hot Dang, haven't had an invitation like that in a long time ;) Can I order anything on the menu, huh, huh. Philly steak, or scrapple!!

Cheers,
GTM

GTM, well it happened, it didt want to come out at all, so i took it back, they found that the stereo cables where wrapped around the key lock cable??? and fixed that and readjusted it. so i tested it worked fine, now i go and get gas, and it would't come out, im like not again, so i put my foot on the brake, and bam it comes out. im like ok.... so i stop at my mothers for a quick chat, and it comes right out, now i cant remember if i had my foot on the break or not, but when i get home, i had to put my foot on the brake to get the key out. Im getting very anoid by this. Im starting to wounder if i should have stayed with a Gs-t or something other then an eagle....

Yegads, that sounds like a fish story to me. Did they charge you anything for that repair or was that under some buyer's agreement/warranty plan. After that initial key have they made another for you?

This isn't right, and we know it. It's time you got a little firm, angry, etc. with them. Here's the senario, you get home, the baby is in the back seat crying, the phone in the house is ringing and you can't get the @$&*'' key out plus you are going to have a nervous breakdown right in their driveway.

When I was service manager for Nissan I got to make sure women were treated right. What I found was they always asked more questions than a man and I was happy to answer them. Men on the other hand are taught they are supposed to know something about cars and rather than expose themselves as being uninformed would ask few questions... funny but true. I also probably had more irate women customers who I treated respectfully for after they blow off steam will need a box of tissue which was always handy then can get down to the business of sorting out the problem fairly.

Documment the problem with dates, calls, and appearances, get names of who you talked with along the line. Use first names for that's an ego builder in business dealings. It shows you are paying attention to them and the chances are you will get better results and that is all you are looking for. You want fair play and this should have been taken care of before you drove away the first time, if it's something you are doing then get them to watch you.

If you don't have the key code demand they give it to you, hopefully you have an owner's manual where you can write it in. For making master key you want it punched from a key maker and not just a ground copy.

Cheers,
GTM

Thanks GTM, i did just that, made them a deal, i buy the cable and they pay the labor :thumb: , Now you said something about a master key , Im going to call a lock smith on that, the dealer told me its $11.00 for the key and they would have to cut it  any ways, i still have to figure out how to get you a Burger King or a McDonalds meal or something, I know, ill hook you up VIA paypal, next week, Ill figure something out. Also i broke down and got me a Hayes Manual for it, now i can figure out stuff when it goes wrong and i can scan pages for the lucky few on here ( if i get the time). Thanks again
