Hey everyone. I'm having a big problem overboosting (20+psi on T25) and I can't seem to figure out what the problem is. This is my first turbo car so I don't really know how everything works yet. I was told by some guy at a performance shop that he thought my wastegate actuator arm was hitting the heat shield and therefore not opening. Does that make sense to anyone else? I seriously can't ever go WOT in any gear but 1st without hitting 20psi...so I'm stuck always shifting at 3500 rpms or not boosting at all. Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks a lot guys.

1) Judging by your gallery pictures, stop venting your BOV. You're making things worse.

2) What are you using for boost control?

3) You say you have an EVO 16G in your profile but talk about the T25. Which is it?

Please rectify these so I may diagnose further.

1. Injen sent me the wrong intake pipe. Already sold the stock one. Still haven't sent me the right one....after 3 months.....
2. Nothing. Should be at stock boost but obviously its not.
3. I have the EVO3 16G and I was going to install it a couple months ago but now im contemplating selling my car so I've still got the T25 in there...guess I should fix my mods list.

Thanks.

i had the same prob with a ball and spring type mbc. my fix was that the vaccum lines off the mbc were too long which was making mine spike too high. i just cut the hoses where they were just long enough to work and bingo. now i spike at 17 and drop to 15. try that. if you aren't using a mbc, then it could be very possible that the arm for the wastegate is hitting the heat shield. just check it out. you should be able to tell. if the arm has marks on it then i think this is your prob.

It sounds like your wastegate is sticking. Hook an air compressor up to it (LOW PRESSURE like 15 lbs MAX) and pressurize it. See if it opens up.

It's not opening. I worked with it a while today.....what do i do....buy a new actuator and arm? What are my options?

It may take some force to open. You might not have tried hard enough. You can buy a new actuator and arm, but if you want to save a little money, mess with the old one first. Check to see if all your vaccum lines are hooked up properly.

Here's a link:

It's for a 1g, but there's a lot of similarity to how they're hooked up; nothing that should conflict with a 2g. Good luck, hope this helps :thumb:
