ok i have had this problem for a while now. at first i noticed that when i rev up to about 2.5 rpms i hear a kind of grinding noise coming from either the middle or driver side of the engine. then i let off the gas and hear the noise for about 5 seconds then it goes away until i rev it up again. lately i have been hearing the noise when reving to about 1.5 rpms. i have no clue what this could be. now for my second problem that started happening about 4 days agao. i got in my car and noticed no lights on at all with the door open. i attempted to start it and it didnt do anything, didnt even click. so i check all my fuses. they are fine. i go to start it and now it starts fine. this was the first time it happened. now last night i went out to start my car and it did it again so i opened up my door and closed it pretty hard. i had the key in the ignition at the time so when i slammed my door shut now all my lights came on and the car started fine. i have no idea what the problem is. here is what has been replaced on the car:

-new valve gasket cover
-new spark plugs/wires
-new radiator cap/gasket
-tune up about a month ago

if any has any input i would greatly appreciate. sorry about the length!

Check and clean your battery terminal connections. That happened to my car and it did as you discribed. The grinding sound I am guessing is just a heat shield. Nothing to worry about. Then again it could be a rod bearing :shhh: j/k and good luck.

..^..Particularly the negative battery clamp.. However--> Take both clamps off and sandpaper the inside surfaces... then wire brush [or sandpaper or emery cloth] the battery posts. Now follow the negative wire to where it bolts to the body [probably on the firewall] and make sure that it's bolted tight with no crud around it.... Loosen the bolt and jiggle the thingy, then tighten it. Then hook-up the battery again!! A little dab of grease on the battery posts will help prevent this from happening again.:shhh:

Poke around under the car for loose metal rattling stuff. I had an annoying buzz from under the car and it turned out to be a broken clamp on the pipe into the cat.... {Just a thought.}
