I put a tranny in my car about a month ago and have been driving around with no problem until last week. The rear-end got obnoxiously hot and there was some massive drag on the drivetrain. I've gotten the rear off and the only thing that appears to be wrong is the overheating. With the car in the air I can spin the driveshaft and front tires easily (no drag). My car is a 95 and the tranny is a 97. I've been told buy two very reliable sources that the transfer case ratios where slightly different from early 95 to other years. Can any one please verify this info. If the rear diff ratios are the same then I should be able to swap out the transfer case, viscous coupling and just put bearings in the rear and be okay.

I don't belive it does. The amount is very small Chances are the diffrence betwen your car and your buddies has something to do with power, tire height.

I'm not quetsioning what my rear and transfer case ratios are. My question is are they diffrent on a 97 awd. I know mine are 1.090:1 and 3.545:1. Maybe somebody with a 97-99 awd wants to take a peak at there manual and/or rearend and tell me what the ratios are
