I am pretty sure this is a fuel problem but I could be wrong.

Last monday I did a head swap because my timing slipped and bent vavles on my old head. I got the new head on the next day and put everything back together. I go to start my car and it turns over but will not fire. Right away i thought I got the timing screwed up and bent the vavles so I pull the head back off and find that they are fine. I put the head back on and reconnect everything and it still will not start. I figure it has to be a spark or a fuel problem. I check the spark and its fine. Check all the fuel lines and sensors in the engine bay and everything looks ok. Then I remember that I had re-wired my fuel pump awhile back so I decide to go check it out and see if any wires came loose or if the relay possibly went bad. I look around and dont find anything but decide to wire the pump back up to stock anyway. I turn the car over and it starts! Alright I'm happy now. I take the car into town and cruise around all night last night. It is running great. I come home and park it in the garage for the night. Wake up this morning and go to start my car and it will not start!! It's not just turning over and not doing anything this time, it will fire once in awhile but not enough to make the car run. I figure my fuel pump must be going bad so I read up in the Chiltons on how to check the pump. It says to just wire the pump directly to the battery and see if you can hear it running. I do that and I CAN hear it running so I dont know what to do now. I am going to check my fuel filter and all connections to my injectors but I dont know why it would all of a sudden just quit over night. If anyone has any idea's please let me know.

Thanks
Brent

Welp I still dont know what the deal is. I went home after I wrote that last thread and it started after 3 or 4 try's. If I go somewhere and turn the car off and come back outside it will start on the first try everytime. But then when I let it sit overnight it takes 5 or 6 times before it will finally start and when it does it throws a big cloud of blue smoke. I really dont know what is going on and cant believe I didnt get any responses to this thread yet. My thoughts are that since this is a used head the valve seals are a little worn and its letting fuel seep down into the cylinders after i turn the car off. Then when i start it, it throws the big cloud of smoke because it burns that fuel. Because of the seals being worn the fuel system does not stay pressurized and thats why it takes 5 or 6 times before it will start. Its also buring oil which could be caused by the bad seals.

Anyway thats what I think, if anyone has any other idea's I would like to hear them.
