Forwarding this to you guys here from a good friend who's at his wits end with this problem

Had this problem for about 2 months now. Can't seem to track down this problem. CEL light comes on past 4-5k in 3rd and 4rth gear only at WOT. The car also pops and misfires at around 7k.

-I have tried several different plug gaps and many different sets of plugs, now down to .024 on br7es, still no luck
-knock counts are around 10-15...no knock when misfire
-changed CAS
-I have changed ignitors and blown 2 up so far.
-was running stock ignition system with magnecore wires (even tried swapping wires to stock...)
-Upgraded to COP with an ARC-2 ignition system..still no luck
-got new plugs for ignition and ignitor and rewired them.. still no luck
-even added a chassis ground to the small black wire on the ignitor
-tried using a logger to see the code

Anyone have any good ideas as I am fresh out..and thinking about re-wiring the ignitor (power transistor)?

What would cause the ignitors to blow up? Possible shorts on the trigger wires coming from the the ECU? Could my ECU be knackered?
