I just bought the car 2 weeks ago and a few nights ago I kinda beat it up on the highway. Anyway after I was done I noticed it started jerking at around 2k rpm and then tonight I went out and for the first time it stalled. I drove some more and it stalled but this time when I tried to drive it again, the rpm would start jerking like crazy so I had to push the clutch about half way until I got home and I could barely get it to be stable.

I think my downpipe got cracked. Could this be the problem?

PLEASE help me. I have to make a 40 mile drive monday-friday for my job training next week and if I can't fix it tomorrow, I'm f#$%ed.

I'm really not experienced when it comes to engines or anything so please don't use acronyms and try to use directions if you have any ideas.

Thanks so much

I haven't checked anything yet. It just happened like half an hour ago and it's too dark to do anything atm. I will check it tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion.

um..i dont think it's the timing belt..i checked the two belts that i could see to the left of my engine (one had a cover on it and notches) and the other went to lots of pulleys. Both were ok.

ok I drove it this morning.. it was ok for like 2 minutes and then the rpm's started falling in second gear. Damn it, I need to fix this today or im so screwed.
