[RESOLVED] A couple problems with my 99 eclipse n/a!

Hi i'm new here and was reffered by a friend i think his name is MEANAWDTALON

Anyways, when i start up my 99 eclipse n/a it throws white smoke?

Sometimes it will, sometimes it wont.

Usually when i come to a stop, it'll throw white smoke when i push on the gas, then sometimes it wont.


Guy i bought it from said they just replaced the oil but the car itself had been sitting there for about 2 months.

They just replaced the clutch also.

Any suggestions?

I used to drive POS hondas before i got this car ha, so any help would be appreciated!

Black Smoke: gas

Blue Smoke: Oil

White Smoke: Coolant/water


I'd do a compression test to see if it could be a head gasket. If your compression is good, my money is on the valve seals.

Does it feel like all the power is there? or does it feel kind of doggish?

Yeah, it could be a headgasket. I had the same problem on my old motor. Check the oil to see if it's at all milky.

thanks! it was the valve stem seals, compression test checked out o.k.

Valve stem seals dont have anything to do with coolant, so how would that solve your problem?
