Here's a graph of the load from my logger. I don't think it's supposed to be near this high during idle. We tried to get it to move under it's own power today and it hardly could. It revs slow when you slam on the gas in neutral, and it hardly moves in drive. I have the throttle set right. I can't figure out what to do. If I can't find any good suggestions I'm just gonna pull the pan and replace the bearings again, because I think the friction between the bearings and the rods are keeping it from moving freely. When I first rebuilt it, it'd spin freely, I went back a couple weeks later and it wouldn't rotate at all. Loosened up the rod caps and it spun like it should, but I torque them down and they won't move again. Then they'll move when I break them loose and turn for awhile but then I leave them for 15 min and come back, i have to break them loose again with a breaker bar. Can anyone help?

I don't remember what they're torqued to, but I torqued them to the specs in the haynes manual (some number and then 2 quarter turns). I didn't check the clearences, but I'm gonna do that the next time I get a chance. I know the crank and rods are in specs. That's kinda what I'm thinking, but why would it spin freely and then just seize like it did?
 
Probably because it's heating the metal up enough to "move" it around and cause it to seize back up. I would definitely lean towards something is out of spec in your bottom end. Oh and loosening your rod caps and running the motor is just begging for disaster. I highly recommend against doing this.
 
Well, I got all my stuff from 99gstracer, who is on the boards here, and he said everything was where it was supposed to be, so I guess I must be torquing them wrong. Also, what you said would make sense if it seized when it was warm. It's seizing when it's cold. The car had never been started.
 
If the car has never been started, how are you coming up with these logs? And why are you saying that it "revs slow when you slam on the gas in neutral, and it hardly moves in drive?" It sounds like you are killing your own motor by you "techniques" and are going to blame it on another person. Don't just take someone else's word for it, you need to check things on your own.
 
I'm not trying to blame him. Maybe I didn't explain myself well. The problem with turning it over by hand was happening before I started the car, therefor bearing being 'cold'. Yes, the car was started after that. I logged it once and tried to move it, but hasn't been running since. I am the one doing something wrong and am not trying to place blame anywhere else. I'm just trying to eliminate that as a possibility.
