I need to replace my speed sensor. Or at least I'm pretty sure that's what it is because that's what the ECU is spitting out for an error code. I don't have any tools where the car (a 95 GSX auto tranny) is located. So, what tools are required? Screwdriver, and what sized wrench? Also, if you guys have any diagrams, or picture/walk through of this, I'd appreciate it. I have one weekend to get this done so I can get it moved.

Anyways, so introduce myself, I drive a 3000gt, and have experience with cars, but my g/f recently bought a GSX, that's why I'm on the board. It only runs in 3rd-ish gear (home gear?) and both the tach and speedo work, but the CEL is on and it spits out an error code 'transmission speed sensor' is bad.

I find it odd that the speedo would still be working when the Speed Sensor is bad. The sensor should be at the back of the tranny on the top. It should only require a socket to remove. I'm not exactly sure what size it is but should be metric. Probably between 6-10mm. Good luck.

Make Sure if it is the problem you Get an auto Speed sensor, thee Standard speed sensor will be to short.

I thought it was kind of odd also, but if the ECU says it's not working, it probably should be replaced anyways.

I could only find one type for a 95

If anyone is interested, here are my findings. If your speedo and tack are working, but your in limp mode, it's most likely something with the TCU. I got a OBD2 scan and it said that there is a TCU malfunction. Now, as to what part, I'm not sure. Chances are it's the whole TCU, but I'm gonna get a scan from that before I do anything major.
