Ok so I printed the check list of free mods for the 1st gen and did most of them but I cant seem to figure out what exactly you do to the MAF honeycombs and stuff. The link doesnt work for the more info in that section so I am just wondering if someone can hook me up with a different link or something. I searched and cant seem to find it, maybe someone can just explain it better. I am scared to do anything to that piece until I feel like I know exactly how, LOL, thanks guys.:dsm:

There are two things you can do to hack the MAF first remove it from the car. Take the air can and filter off. You will see two honey combs. One is large and square, the other is small and ovaled a bit remove the lower small one like so:
You must be logged in to view this image or video.

Make sure to leave the big one intact. The car will suffer idle and A/F problems if removed.

The next thing you can do is rmove the silencer. The easiest way to do this is removing the MAF from the back half of the can by removing the screws and pushing it out. You will be left with the car and the silencer. Just pop it out and replace the MAF into the back half. Reinstall everything the way you removed it and your done.

If you're not already familiar with it, check out the VFAQ site:

www.vfaq.com

There's a wealth of info on that site about all sorts of DSM mods, including stuff about hacking the MAF & modifying your aircan. :thumb:

Also, search around these forums for "hacked maf" or "hacked mas" - you'll find lots of threads covering this topic with varying opinions on whether or not this is a useful mod to perform.

:talon:

I hope you did all required maintenance first ? Checked timing components ? Boost leak test ? Compression test ? You should do these before you start the modding process . If not do them before anymore mods . If you do this first it will help eliminate any potential problems you have down the road . Easier to diagnose later . Trust me , you do alot of mods at once , it will take you forever to find the problem . :thumb: . Look into GROMIT'S link .
