I own a 92 Tsi awd. The car has never idled right since I have had it. Originally it had a
2g throttle body. So we installed a 2g MAF, 550's, SAFC, along with a 1g throttle body, which doesnt leak, brand new gaskets. The only problem is it only idles like crap when its cold. In the morning when I start it, and if its warm like 90 degrees, it idles fine. But, when the air is cold in the morning it feels like its sticking at 1500 rpms. I can actually take my foot off the pedal and roll for a second or two without it slowing down. After I take off, and I'm waiting at a light it bounces from 1000rpms to 1300 rpms. And continues to do this for about 15 mins of driving.
The TPS has been checked. The ISC is fine. Sprayed WD40 around the TB and nothing. I imagine this problem will only be worse in the winter when its 20 degrees in the morning.
What could it be? 2g MAF leak? Intake manifold leak? Wouldnt it idle like crap all the time then?
Another thing, I cant make it stall with the idle screw. I screw it in all the way and it still idles at 750+. Shouldnt i be able to stall the motor with that screw? I can lean in it out when it does this with my SAFC, but isnt that bad for the motor? Even at low rpms? I also have a brand new 02 sensor. AC removed. Colder thermostat installed and TB coolant bypass was done also! Anything else you wanna know to help me?
