So as a lot of you know, I had major problems with my car, and the MAFT was shorting, and my Crank Tensioner was broken. It would start, and after 20 sec. shut down. We fixed both of the parts, and it ran for about 20 min. then shut down again. It is sending a bunch of codes and one of them is the cam angle sensor. Could there be any other sensors that could make this happen? It had jumped 180 degrees and the head was still fine. It sounds perfect when it is running. Please let me know what you think!!!!

Thanks Guys,

Jake

95-96 2g's have the cam sensor under the cam gear. id check to see if the sensor is broken...only thing is you half to take off the timing belt. is the car getting spark and fuel now?

Jesse

It is getting spark, and perfect to all cylinders. I can smell gas but don't know if it is getting it in the motor itself. Do you think maybe fuel pump or filter?

well here is what i would do since fuel filters are cheap and easy to do id go ahead and replace it. i would go ahead and try cranking the car over for a couple seconds and then unbolt the 2 bolts holding the line on comming from the fuel filter on the fuel rail.. one of three things will happen.
1 no fuel will come out..possible bad fuel filter/ pump
2. no pulse to your injectors when i had none i took off that line and gas shot out of the fuel rail becuase of the build up of pressure.
3. and of course its all fine. and a little fuel will just drip out.

try doing that and post what happens.

if its number 2 then you've got an electrical problem. crank sensor cam angle sensor ect.
if number 3 happens here is what you need for your car to run if its getting fuel and spark it could be one of these..

1. Check and make sure the CAS isn't 180* out of position. *with a 95-96 this isnt the case*

2. Make sure the plug wires are in correct firing order.

3. Double check your timing belt, line up marks, then do a compression test.

hope it helps

Jesse

It didn't spray but it seemed like a lot to come out. It did drip out tho. I can't seem to figure out the problem at all! It is getting depressing. The CAS is fine, unless the sensor is just bad. The timing is perfect. What else could it be?

Not to sound like a jerk, but have you thought of purchasing a manual and diagnosing the codes? You can pick up an OEM manual off ebay for cheap. If you still insist on relying on everyone elses opinions while giving them vague information I'd suggest listing the codes that you're getting. It's a good possibility that your CAS sensor isnt' getting VREF voltage and therefore other sensors aren't getting the VREF as well causing your other codes.
