Hey guys i was just wondering if a bad o2 sensor would make ## car hard to start and have like no power and run like shit......someone told me i had a bad o2 sensor i was getting horrible gas mileage and i went out to start it today and it just cranked for like 2 minutes then fired i hit the gas and it stalled.....thanks guys

Absolutely. A bad O2 will put the ECU into what's referred to as "li,p mode" where it will run poorly and make next to no power. Most of this is due to the fact that when O2 sensors go bad, they read lean and dump tons of fuel to compensate. This is often accompanied by blackened plugs, hesitation, part thottle misfire, poor mileage etc. There are other things that can cause these symptoms, but replacing the O2 is a great place to start. If you have an A/F gauge and the O2 doesn't cycle at idle or cruise, it's toast.

Don't bother with a dealer replacement either and I don't particularly care for the Bosch units. If you vist http://www.sparkplugs.com and reference your make and model, you can buy a Denso OEM sensor that was made for the car and requires no splicing on the connector. I have one of these and it also has the benefit of being more resistant to the use of leaded race gas.

Hope that helps,

Andy
