so last night i was driving around town when my power steering belt went out i took it off and all is well for now till i get a new one, but now my accessory lights are on when i idle as if the are is off but in acc mode?? i checked the belt and it is spinning too i have no idea really what this is? oh and when i come to a stop and idle they come on but when i start driving off they turn off too!!

the rad. battery and e-brake light, i think i found the problem though. i went and had my alt. checked out and they told me it seems ok but i need to pull it off and let them open it and check all the brushes and diodes to get a more in depth look. my volt meter reads around 11-12vdc when i idle and thats when the lights come on. basicly is seems my alt is going

Yep, those three lights are the classic sign of a dead/dying alt on a 1G.
If you can, get the Canadian-wrapped 90 amp model. It shouldn't cost any more than the US 75 amp, but gives you a little more charging leeway for things like power inverters, stereo equipment and so on.

Also, check your power steering for leakage. If it's dripping into the alt, that'll kill it quick. Same thing with degrading the rubber of the belt.
