ok so haven't seen this and I can't figure it out. I have a 97 Talon TSi FWD. Has a 6 bolt swap. Anyway the dude couldn't get the starter to work with the clutch in and turning key. When you do that the fuel pump turns on and nothing else. SO he wired in a push button. Well worked great for about a day. I took it home drove to work to lunch and on my way home I stalled it and go to restart but no go. The thing will not longer start from the clutch and now button. I thought it was the starter, well eh wrong answer my dad had them test the one I was buying pass with clean colors I go home pick up the starter my dad picked up for me and go outside about 20mins laster I have starter in and all hooked up. Whats it do SAME DAMN THING. When I hit the button it just kinda dims all the lights in the cabin nothing else. I've been racking my brain oh this one and can't figure it out. So yea all help is greatly appreciatged I need to get the thing back on the road ASAP

It's a connection somewhere.

Clean the battery terminals and posts.

If that doesn't work, you most likely have corrosion in the positive wire that runs from the starter, to the positive terminal on the battery.(most likely on the battery end). It's a simple fix.

yea thats what I"m thinking. Post and terminals are cleaned though I'm gonna take off my FMIC tubing today and get to all the battery wiring. See if I can maybe see something. Also fine out what the hell that little wire is hanging. Its a little plug with 2 female connections on it.

make sure you check the pushbutton too, theres alot of people that use too small amperage of a pushbutton and fry it after so many pushes. was it wired up using a relay and fuse (the proper way), or wired up in-line?
