Hey quick question guys. My car ran perfect this morning, but after driving it to the top of the driveway and letting it idle for a few minutes, the car just turned off. I've had known problems with the battery not holding a charge, so I tried to jump the car, but the car will sometimes start and idle to 500 for a second or two then just shut off. I tried charging the battery overnight but it didnt even hold the charge. Is the battery why the car wont stay running?

A bad battery could definitely cause your problem. If the battery is not holding a charge, take it to Advance or AutoZone and have them put it through a test. The test will not cost you anything. It will charge the battery, if it will hold the charge, and check for flaws. If the battery is bad, obviously replace it.

If the car runs fine after that, I would also highly recommend getting the charging system tested as well. This is also a free test they provide. It will tell you the condition of the charging system. If you replace the battery and it runs fine, the alternator could still be bad and it will not charge your new battery. I am not saying you have this problem, I am just saying that it is nice to know the condition of the charging system...and it is free so what's to lose?

Also remember to clean all of your connections.

Well, I went out and replaced the battery but the car still wont start. I noticed the ignition fuse was burnt so I replaced it with another 30a from the rear defroster but I still get the same results.

Well after some more diags I found out that the fuel pump isnt pumping when you turn the key right before cranking. Also explains the clicking under the dash.

I figure its the fuel pump relay
