Saskatoon,
I just bought a 91 tsi awd 5 sp talon. It is a solid car but like all used vehicles, it needs some work. There are two major things that I need direction on. When the car is started, it will only rev at 300 to 500 rpm. I think this is due to losing the throttle screw. The other thing is that the tranny grinds a little going into 3rd and 5th. It seems like a solid car and i bought it because I work at chrysler dealership and have a lot of quality mechanics. Where is the best place to get parts for up in Canada?? Thanks everyone

There are alot of online dealerships and shops that would ship to you, way cheaper then normal dealerships (at least around here). Typically $20-40 cheaper even after shipping.

Try replacing the tranny fluid with some BG Synchroshift or Synchromesh or Royal Purple tranny fluid. Some people have said that their grinding went away or was lessened with just a fluid change. Eventually, the synchros are going to have to be replaced, but the fluid might extend the time until you have to do that.

Replace the BISS, as mentioned before. You can get one at a junkyard or possibly from the dealership you work at.

From the original post, I don't think it is the BISS screw, it sounds like the Idle screw located on the throttle by the throttle cable, on the side of the throttle facing the firewall. Either find a screw from napa, or get a slightly larger screw and screw it. My threads were stripped on mine, so they retapped it with a slightly larger screw. It fixed my idle problem. But the others are right too. It could also be a problem with the BISS screw which is located on the throttle on the engine side, it sits under a cap, but most people are missing the cap.

Oh, THAT screw. :coy: Yeah, replace that one too. :)
