Well, i was driving home after school the other day and the weirdest thing happened. I was just cruising around 70 miles an hour and I heard like a grinding scraping noise. I pulled on the shoulder and when i got around 10 - 5 miles per hour it locked up on me. I was still in drive and i tried to go. It felt just like i was power braking. so i put it in reverse and it backed up fine. then i put it in drive and i drove off just fine. Now when i get into the upper RPMS it makes a really weird vibrating noise like a hum. My car is an automatic, maybe something with that??

Hmmm, I really dont think the back brakes would have a whole lot to do with this since he has rear disk brakes. If they were drums one of the liners could have came off the shoe and got wedged between the drum and shoe, but not here.

Anyway, where specifically is the noise coming from? Does it do it when you rev it in neutral or only when actually driving?

I would probably stop driving it til you figure it out too.

Probably a safe assumption. Atleast driveline related, maybe not necessarily trans related but somewhere in the drivetrain.

Good luck, I cant offer much help in the subject of auto DSMs.

I was sitting in my garage this morning with it idleing and letting it warm up and i revved it. It made the noise. I reached under while in my seat and felt the cat when i revved it.. It vibrated like a biotch when the noise came, maybe this is it, im going to go under tonight and fix whats vibrating. Also there is no gasket where the or elbo attaches to the downpipe, could this let out lound noise too???. I need to pick one up after school.
